I have a confession to make. My service manual says to use new brake caliper bolts everytime you remove the calipers. I don't. I reuse the old bolt with loctite (blue or 243).
Am I the only one who suffers from this affliction? Are there others out there that secretly reuse caliper bolts?

Loctite... apparently I suffer from a worse affliction than you. I have never replaced those on the Valk, Wing or ST. Maybe at 50k, I'll do it just for giggles but cleaning them up and a little loctite should be fine IMO.
Sometimes I don't even use the loctite...
Da book says to repl the caliper stopper bolt too. Nah.
It is funny (odd) that the Valk bolt has the same pn and does NOT call for replacement (non-aloc).

I'm sure the 'L' word comes into play here.... Liability, not Loctite

I know of two reasons why a manufacturer would specify fastener replacement.
1) The fastener stretches as it is torqued, creating a very positive lock on the threads. The stretch is pre-determined by the engineers. Once stretched, the fastener will not stretch properly again and must by replaced.
2) The manufacture puts a locking agent on the threads.
I think Honda is doing #2. These bolts come with some kind of hard, red goo on the threads. Are you guys removing the hard, red goo before lock-tite-ing the fastener?

Honda also recommends relplacing the drain plug washer every oil change. But who does?

I never was replacing mine... but I decided to get a few, and then turn the washer over and replace it every other oil change.

I hate to admit this...... mine..ah...mmmm disolved, ya disolved on the first oil change about 40k ago. The dealer threw one in with my last filter purchase so I thought WTH and installed it. The (washerless) plug, torqued to spec, has never leaked a drop.
Steve (in parts replacement purgatory awaiting judgement)
