Looking at a route to Moonshine and just wondered if anyone else in the south east area would like to hook up and ride in together on Friday. If nothing else pans out I may ride over and hook up with Gene and Kris LINK TO THEIR POST (http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19972)but that'd put me riding more slab than I want to. Anyways, if ya got a route, post it up.
Do you already have a route planned that you could post ?
I talked to Kreis and we will most likely come up to ky and meet you and head west unless someone in Knoxville jumps on. we may meet up in Ky thursday night instead of me going to knoxville. we would get a lot more rest that way . Thanks GENE

we were waiting on the weather before making the final decision to go. right now the forecast for next friday is rain, then cold on saturday according to accuweather for casey, IL. if that changes we will ride due north through paducah etc on the two lane highways as much as possible on friday.
we were planning to get to casey before noon and ride to EES at the airport. As of right now it looks like we are going to meet around lexington thursday evening and meet you early friday morning. How early were you planning to leave? If we meet at Kreis house we will be up way to late and would have to leave around 2-3 am. At a hotel we would be a sleep by 10 or 11 and actually get some sleep. A lot safer this way at kreis's we would have to work on some new farkle half the night!!
Thats one sharp looking little man you got there . we canceled our thread and are going with you

Will it looks like we will finally get to ride together look forward to meeting you on Friday. Maybe you can have dinner with us we get to Lexington or if we need to stay near Georgetown let us know if you have and exit # or location that would be best meet at on Friday morning let us know.
If you get time today please give me a call on your map file to Casey1. I believe you’re riding for 421 that is if that is the route you have chosen to go north that’s all right with me if that’s not then look at 421 going north or if you would rather go west first out of local look at highway 64 to Mount Carmel then turn north

Sorry for the lack of replies guys. We came "home" for Easter and I haven't really been on the pc since lunch at work on Friday. I am on my little bro-in-law's laptop right now and don't have any software on it to view the route files you posted. I will take a look at them when I get home tomorrow (Sunday) evening.
I'd suggest staying in Georgetown off exit 126. There are several newer hotels in a cluster right behind the Speedway gas station and a Honda stealership, Cracker Barrel, Ruby Tuesdays and new KFC across the street with several more good eat'n places just down the street. This exit has really exploded over the last 5 years and almost all the hotels and resteraunts are new. Not to mention easy right off the exit with no major traffic and possible crime areas you'd find in Lexington. Also, I live about 3 miles off this exit.
we decided on our route home to Md if anyone wants join us.

Honestly,,, I am amazed at all the pre time it takes to get here... Everyone who comes to Moonshine,,, is a true rider in my book... :bow1: :bow1:
Setting here,,, and not getting to go anywhere about drives me nuts as I am setting here comparing notes on all your maps,,, and I don't get to ride!!! :(

That route looks fine to me too. 421 was the road I had on "Casey_1" to head north-west on. If you guys have ridden 421 before we can choose another if you want - doesn't really matter to me - I am easy as long as it's not a ton of slab.
I haven't been on any roads out that way I' m just excited yo go. What is your thursday evening looking like? Kreis and I both plan to be at the motel around 8-9 and we will need to get some diner your welcome to join us !

I should be able to get out for a bit on Thur night. I try to always have everything done, preped and packed the day before I leave for a ride (or 2days before if leaving in AM) so all I do the of/before is rest and no rush.
What time you guys planning on leaving G-town on Frid morning?
I guess we need to be away by 6am or so to be in casey by 11am or so and still have a fun ride there without being pushed

I think the routes we were kicking around above were 6-7 hours long, so that may not make your time frame.
Number9 your casey1 est was right at 5.5 hours to casey at normal car speeds we should be able to maintain those somehow ?? or we can leave a little bit earlier , Kreis doesn't sleep much anyway!! I'm the one that likes to sleep.. They are supposed to leave the comfort inn to the airport at 12 but I think that is very optomistic. Can't wait !!!

We are not eating at Charleston/Mattoon airport just off RT 16 1/2 way between the 2 cities until 1pm or so... Easy to find,,, and welcome to just head up if your late!!!
And,,, I will bet a $1 and a donut we don't roll out of the Comfort Inn at the stroke of noon either...
Here's another possible that will get us there before 11am with only 40miles of slab at the end

Yeah, that's right. Looking at the Casey_1 it shows 6.5 hours and we will gain an hour too, so that'd put us there around 11:30am if we leave G-town at 6am.
Kreis here it is in gpx format

gene what do you think about this route are those the roads you were planning on running
that's it about 4.75 hours and only 43 miles of slab, 255 miles total,we'll have to get number9's thoughts on it ?

Looks good to me - I am easy. For some reason the file Gene posted looks a little cleaner in Mapsource. If they are the same I will load that one to the GPS.
I saw that don't know what those straight lines were ?

I thought it might run faster without the windshield and the rest of the plastic as long as you’re riding in the daylight I should be OK what you think
I took this photo of 4:00 PM to day
Well I’m about ready to go how about you guys
Now everyone understands why it's better for us to meet at a hotel, or thursday at 10pm mine might look like that !!! When vdid you get the corbin seat?
h2orider
04-10-2007, 05:03 PM
The Corbin is for a friend’s bmw I wish I had one way to know why do I need a Corbin I have my gel pad, sheepskin, beaded ,and the air hawk do I really need another seat I think not the photos coming after dinner almost done the whole friends on the bike wiring in a new power source to the rear for the CB indexing and will have filtered power with isolated ground maybe the buzz will be gone
Number9 we should both be in town by 7pm Kreis will most likely be in around 5or 6 I'll give you a call when we are in

I'm figuring on US-421 for my route down toward CampSTOC next week. Pick it up south of Indie and stay on it til time to head toward the event (prolly somewhere in mid-TN.)

421 is a good route George. Gets REALLY good between Hyden & Harlan, KY - but WATCH OUT for the coal trucks during the week. If you are hungry BE SURE to stop at the 421 Diner somewhere between Richmond and McKee - it will be on the left if you are heading south.
Also, I'd not run 421 through Lexington unless you like traffic and lights. I'd do.....
- get off 421 onto 62 at Midway (neat little town and nice sights along 62)
- 60 out of Versailles and run it to 1967 - you can't miss the turn off because there will be a Castle (a REAL one) on the left at the intersection
- 1967 to 169 and then run 169 on out to Richmond and pick up 421 again
