HorST.
According to the anouncement on The liST, WeSToc X will be in San Luis Obispo. Sept. 6,7,8 & 9. Perhaps a visit to the liST and a confirmation from the dis-organizers (John & Becci Parker) would be appropriate.

I added a calendar event last week as soon as the WeSTOC X organizers posted the dates. As soon as I hear of a website for registration and more info., I'll update the calendar and post a notice here as well.

Here's the calendar event w/info from the email:

I wonder if they realize Sept. 6th is labor day... a heavy traffic day with campers/etc. returning home from the Holiday weekend. May have Hotel problems enroute......

Don't worry, they know. As is the custom for this event, the date/location/format/color of the hotel/availability of topless towel girls at the bike wash station/lack of (insert pet peeve here) are all being discussed on the ST-Riders list. This will continue off and on until well after the event is over.

I will be off work in Sept for those dates however the Atlantic might be a bit cold at that time of year and my 50 metre swimming badge might not be good enough bearing in mind I would have an ST1300 Pan European strapped to my back.

Maybe I will just take the ferry to France and visit the memorials from the 2 world wars. :sun1:

I would LOVE to go to WeSTOC, but I just had my wife run the miles and it is 2293 miles ONE way, just too far for me time-wise. I would really like to see a National STOC event somewhere that is central to the US so everyone would have reasonable travel times. If and when it happens, I will be there. Until then, I'll be looking forward to the pics and stories from all of you that attend.

In '04 and no doubt in '05 there was/will be;
CheapSToc=TX, FriendSToc=WV, EaSToc tba, N.EaSToc tba, QSToc (Quebec), CanSToc, TexSToc and FallSToc (east US). One of those should suit your needs :-)

Yeah, I know about the other STOC events and plan on attending EaSTOC. I have heard that there are TONS more people/bikes attend WeSTOC than any other so that is one I'd like to go to. A national or NaSTOC event sould surely draw a nice crowd of ST'ers. ;)

WeSTOC is the largest event for ST1100 - ST1300's in North America, and possibly the largest in terms of attendance on the planet. We have plenty of folks attending from all over the country, in fact, with your 2293 miles one way you probably would not get the award for longest trip to WeSTOC. It is always well-attended because of several factors; the proximity to a huge rider base in California, Oregon, Washington, the premier riding roads available, the generally nice weather, the quality of the event. WeSTOC strives to be the moST upscale of the STOC rallies. Some agree with this concept, some disagree, but nearly everyone always has a great time at WeSTOC. Our attendance this year was ~185 riders and pillions.

Most of the other STOC events are considerably smaller, more intimate events. All of the STOC events I've attended over the years have been great fun, stocked with great attendees.

If you really can't handle the long ride, consider flying out and renting a bike for WeSTOC.

Hope to see you at WeSTOC X, in San Luis Obisbo, Sept 6-9, 2005. The disorganizing team is putting together another fantastic WeSTOC!

Oh, I couldn't do that at all.......that would be like going to the prom with your sister

Maybe someday I will get everything together and be able to do it. The wife and I are *taliking* about taking a ride out to Colorado, but it is just talk at this point. We just got the ST this October so we still have to get proper gear and all first. Plus I still have the R6 and have to divide riding time between it and the ST - kind of like having 2 kids I guess, don't want one to feel neglected ;)

Paul,

Make sure you visit Verdun... Amazing... what was once a forest is
now nothing but cratered land.. So much shelling that it is almost impossible to find level land.. Shell craters overlap each other. The
French still have an EOD team in the area, unexploded ordinance is
still being found after all these years.. I was there about 30 years ago, and only scrub brush was growing in the area, so much poison
gas was used that it killed all the vegetation in the area....

I have been to France practically every year since 1980 and there are 2 things that I never get tired of visiting.

One is Vimy Ridge were tens of thousands of Canadians died taking what can only be discribed as a hillock (very small hill). On top of the ridge is a giant statue of Mother Canada crying for her lost sons. Even the thought of it moves me now.

The second is near Limoges and is called Oradour sur Glane. This is a small village whose inhabitants were massacred and the Village burnt. There was only a handful of survivors so they left the village as it was as a memorial and built a new village up the road.

Mans Inhumanity to Man.
