Man did I score.... I have been looking at this camera for about a year (since the XT was released). Finally, after being stir crazy in the house for a couple weeks (surgery) I went out on a mission today, to make the deal. Locally.

I found Fry's had it advertised online for the lowest price of $799.00. So, knowing that I had $250 in Best Buy Gift Cards from my Citicard, I took the ad into Best Buy and they matched it. Then, I walked next door to Office Depot to get a memory card that I saw online for a great price (which they didn't have in stock) but what did they have in stock? A Canon XTi with 18-55mm lens for $719.00 + Tax!

I snagged the sales card off the shelf, walked next door back to best buy and they matched the $719.00 price.

They will only match local, main stream store prices, but combined with my free gift cards, this brought the price of the camera to $469.00 + Tax. This was way cheaper than I could get online. And even without the giftcards, it was damned close to the price and shipping charges of other online retailers.

I'd suggest hitting Office Depot ASAP as this sale ends 4/21/07.

On an unrelated note, I found a 4GB SD card @ Office Depot for $64.00 for my Zumo. This is a Sandisk model and comes with a USB to SD card adaptor which is perfect for those of you who travel and don't have an SD port on your laptops.

Just thought you should all have this info!

PS: Apparently I didn't pay attention to the 4GB SD card as it was an SDHD which isn't compat with the zumo. Took it back.

Ordered a 2GB sd online at OD for about $25.

So.... I don't have overly large hands, but I wear a large size moto glove and I have always found the Rebel XT(i) body to be a bit on the small size (IE: I find my pinky and ring finger really don't have anywhere to go.

So I purchased an Optek Battery grip (which came with two Lithium batteries) from Amazon.com for under $100 shipped.

Man, what a difference. Not only do I now have more battery power, but the camera is TOTALLY comfortable. It also has a separate trigger button for shooting vertical shots.

I like it!!

Now I need to get a good Zoom lens and a good Macro (panoramic) lens and I'll be set!
