What is everyone having luck with. I've tried on several gloves and just am not happy with the fit, feel, or finish of any that I've looked at. Several of the mesh gloves have 0 protection for the thumb so I've moved to looking at perforated leather gloves with maybe some gel padding in the palm area.
Currently, I'm using Alpinestars SP1 or an earlier model to the SP1 and they are just about worn out.

My Held Steves were great last summer.

I have the the Lee Parks Deer Tours in black (http://www.leeparksdesign.com/eshopprod_cat_530-3637_product_33203.DeerTours_Black.htm). Absolutely the nicest summer glove I have owned. The downside is they are $79.00 a pair. The upside is you can identify what coins are in your pocket with these gloves on. They are that sensitive.
A little less expensive is the Tourmaster/Cortech Deerskin (http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/product.php?productid=101&cat=9) glove for $49.99. I haven't tried these but they are a bit cheaper and appear the only difference is an external seam on these vs. a internal seam on the Lee Parks above.
Deerskin has much greater tear resistance than leather, is cooler in the heat and warmer in the cold than leather.

I have the Tourmaster with the external seam, they are the most comfortable glove I have ever used. Comfort range is 50 degrees to 100+ degrees.

My Held Steves are my favorite but the Tourmaster/Gortec mesh is cooler (and comfortable) when it's really hot.

If you get really frustrated, try these:
http://www.aerostich.com/product.php?productid=16818&cat=253&page=1
or these:
http://www.fulldaytouring.com/
I've worn the Elkskin ropers for 3 years and simply love them - comfortable, not too hot in summer and reasonably water resistant.
Have a pair of the Full Day Touring gloves on order, but would buy the ropers again in a heartbeat.

Have 3 pairs for summer use. Held summer touring (waterproof), Olympia perforated gel, Yamaha summer mesh. The Olympia are 7 years old and going strong.

Right now I'm using POWERTRIP leather perforated (nice small holes) with gel palms.. they are comfy.. Not sure if they are in the USA? they are part of Joe Rocket but different line.. Also going to get some sort of dearskin gloves as lots of people love them for the summer..

I have perforated leather gloves with some gel but the Gel in most my gloves seems to move to one end or the other .Never stays where it should on just about any glove I have ever had .
Leather works well in to the mid 80s for me and I have a pair of mesh shorties for really hot weather as this is the first year with a Mesh Jacket I will try to wear both as high in Temps asI can but there is a limit forme .
So far I love the thin leather ones I have and will try to post the name and brand later .

I've had Held Steves for 9 years...(two pair in that time period) I use them for all the seasons, until the weather gets to be around 35 or lower.
I've tried mesh gloves and got a little more air, but not enough to put the Held's away for the summer. The fit is so nice, and air does get to your hands.
Oh, and I ride and commute in the DC metro area - very humid here, bah .

For you guys in the USA that like the HELD gloves.. RL motorcycles have a clearance on the HELD SUMMER MESH gloves.. They do not ship up here to Canada.. Other forums seem to think these guys are OK... dont know for sure...

I like Held gloves but I did not like their summer glove (Held Fresh). It was nicely made but I found the fit weird. I kept wearing my Held Panthers and they're great. Couldn't resist a deal on Steves and took them on their first (short) ride today in search of an inspection station with the proper state-issued stickers...none to be found locally.

I love my N2 perforated kangaroo gloves. Fantastic summer gloves, about $100 last year.

I prefer textile gloves in summer. Leahter palm, padded fingers, and those bubble things on the knuckles, along the line of motocross glvoes. Mine are the AGV sport touring textiles.
Not as protective as leather, but they do let my hands breathe, and at the same time offer more protection then mesh gloves.

Well, this is digging up an old thread but I think I'm going to drop the coin and order the Lee Parks Black and Tan gauntlet gloves (http://www.leeparksdesign.com/eshopprod_cat_530-3637_product_33202.DeerSports_Black_and_Tan_.htm).
I had a question on size, called and left a message. Not more than 10 minutes later my cell phone rings and this was the beginning of our conversation:
Me: Hello
Hello, is this Matt?
Me: yes...
This is Lee Parks from Lee Parks design...
He answered my questions before I even had a chance to spit them out. I was, to say the least, extremely impressed by the speed at which he called, the fact that I spoke with the owner, and third that he was knowledgeable and polite on the phone. I hope the gloves reflect the impression I have so far!

First Gear MeshTex 2.0. They have thumb protection, a little bit of a gauntlet, leather palms, and hard knuckle protection.

I tried the Steve's on and didn't find them comfortable. They may have needed breaking in but for $150 I wasn't impressed. That's just me, though.

For about $45.00 I bought a pair of Icon Pursuit Gloves about 3 years ago and they're still holding together. I've also worn them in cold weather with a pair of silk liners which kept me warm in 45 degree weather. It really "fits like a glove."

I have a pair of BMW GS gloves, absolutely love them. Their comfort range (for me) is mid-40s to Hunnert&Teens. Mesh back, full fingers, leather palms, knuckle protection, fit is wonderful. Unfortunately, they also got mildewed when I was over in Hawaii, so I'm looking for another pair. BMW has updated them, I haven't found a pair of the new version in my size yet.

Update:
The gloves arrived and the sizing is fubar. My thumb hits the end of the glove while the fingers have over an inch of space left. Moving to a medium glove would alieviate the thumb issue but create a much greater finger issue. Not sure what template they use for their gloves but Lee Parks gloves do not look like they will work for me.
This really sucks as the rest of the glove feels like a glove should feel. Soft, comfortable, yet protective. This was the glove I was looking for...too bad their sizing is so off. :(

I expect these will not have the thumb protection you wish but the best summer glove I have ever used is the Cortech GX Air. I have four pair in various colors and have found that the silver is very useflul in stopping the hand cramps toward the end of the day. Darker colors seem to get too warm even with the exceptional ventilation they have. They absolutely have to be tried on individually as the sizing varies wildly among same marked gloves.

I do not trust mesh gloves. I value my hands too much and mesh just doesn't seem to give enough protection.

On goes the saga...
I got a hold of LPD today and talked extensively with Steve (think that is his name). He had me return the gloves with the outline of my hands in mitten format on the back of their hand measuring guide. He also requested that I put the hand measurement for each hand on the outline.
They are on their way back to them as of today and should be there sometime on Thursday. I'll keep everyone posted. They are a really good outfit to deal with and I would not hesitate to recommend them on the quality of service and the quality of the gloves.
You really, really should see these gloves...oh, they are nice....now if we can get them to fit...

I'd also vote for these, mine are the Olympia Air Force Gel glove. Pretty comfortable and seem to get a lot of air passing through.

These gloves offer minimum protection, but are nice and visible. Good grips in the palm along with reflective material front and back. Picked them up a couple of days ago at Home Depot

Matt,
I have several brands and the best for me so far are the BMW Air Flow 2 gloves. A bit pricey, but are worth it. Supple leather and quality through and through, what you would expect from BMW's line of Rider Apparel.
I also have a pair of Marsee vented gloves, but they have been discontinued.
