Been riding the FZ6 for the last few days, and the rain has been making the chain start to rust. Was looking around, and since the job is going okay, I was thinking about trying that BMW ST800. Belt drive, no chain to hassle with.

Has anyone ridden thse new bikes? They are supposed to be really nimble.

The motor is pretty new, I wonder if it would be a safe bet? My fortunes could collapse tommorow, and I'd be stuck with it. I want to make sure it's a good bet.

Haven't ridden one but I saw one at the top of the Taconic Trail (NY Rte 2) yesterday. Sharp looking bike, except for the headlight...typical BMW there. This one didn't have the factory bags, which I think I'd prefer.

It is a nice looking bike. And the bags for it would be plenty for commuter duty.
It can run the BMW topcase too!

I hope the aftermarket seat options will be good... (OMG I'm already mentally buying it)

I was talking to a lady I know through work the other day. She has ridden in the past but, of late, has been pillioning on her hubby's LT. That 800 has her considering going back to riding her own again.

Nice lookin' ride.

Something to consider - off-road riding and belt drives don't go good together. If a pebble or sand gets between the belt and drive gear, it will tear up the belt in a hurry. If your planning on riding in a fairly clean environment that won't kick up much debris, it should not be a problem.

Heya, yes, it would just be freeway riding here in LA.
