I am considering going the way of satellite radio, but not sure what kind to go with. XM is $12.95 a month and the other is $10.00 a month. Which one is better and why? My other question is which is a better unit, the Delphi or the Roady 2? The salesman at Ulitimate Electronics couldn't really tell me much about either. I know some units require an FM receiver built into the bike. That's not a problem in a car or a Gold Wing, but an ST has no such radio, so I'd need a unit that is totally self-contained, that all I need to do is plug it into my J&M CB unit. I could use some insights here before I spend my money on the wrong thing. Thanx in advance.

I don't have any experience with the Roady other than seeing one up close. I also don't have any experience with providers other than XM.
I have a review on the Delphi Ski-fi in the Reviews section.
The major differences between the two are size and one has a cradle, one doesn't. I always liked the cradle because hooking and un-hooking stereo plugs tend to cause them to short out, same with power cords.
I had an "L" shaped connector on my cradle which would allow me to unhook that and lessened the chance of the cradle jack becoming loose. Since you will probably unhook it everytime you leave the bike. Sliding the unit in and out of the cradle was easy, having to unhook the power and ant and maybe audio output seems to open yourself up for a chance these will become loose after a short time.
Now, I haven't heard of anyone having loose connections, well, not with their units.. ah... you know what I mean....
I did have the cradle short out my unit after leaving it in the rain with a plastic bag over it, the bag was actually holding water and cause it to soak into unit.
My only other issue was the interference with my Garmin 2610, I got a brand new 'shielded' unit from Delphi but there was still interference and I decided to go back to my MP3 player. I never had any interference with my GPS V and would notice a slight drop from time to time with my GPSMap 60c but I couldn't tell if that was the XM or the terrain as it usually happened when I was in Colorado and not the nice flat north texas landscape.
I have an XM Roady. I have it mounted on my right master cover and use the supplied cradle. It has never left the cradle but I do have a lanyard juST in case. I have it powered from the bike using 2wheelinnovations power source.
I liSten through Sony Fontopia earbuds and have no booSTer. I set the units' volume control on max and modulate through an RS in-line volume control. I also have a BLM shelf and when parked and locked to the left the Roady is under the shelf and hardly visible. I have never removed the unit while parked. At motels I do cover the bike with a Geza.
I have a CB with no radio interface and use helmet speakers for that. I can hear both juST fine and the music doesn't STop when receiving CB. I use a Saran bowl cover for rain and have never had a issue, even in OR.!!

Sounds like it boils down to which model you prefer. I have the J&M CB unit mounted on the left handlebar. The audio pickup lead from that would plug directly into the satellite receiver, so it would be a pretty clean installation. I kinda like the Delphi idea of snapping the unit into the cradle, so it makes for an easy removal when you park the bike. That way I can hard wire the cradle into the bike and not have to worry about plugging and unplugging a lot of stuff every time I get on or off the bike. Thanks.
