Message to Escort:

For the 8500 X50, which is more visable in the sunlight when mounted near the handle bar on a motorcycle, the blue or red display/.

Reply:

It is good to hear from you! This is a personal preference. Some people see the Red display better, some see the blue. If you use blue-blocker sunglasses, I would definitely recommend the Red display.
I hope that helps, and thanks for your interest in Escort!

I have the V1 and Autocom. My local BMW dealer sells a wire to connect the V1 to the Autocomm for $9.99. As opposed to Valentine's motorcycle remote for $49. I don't have it yet but I should get it Tuesday. I hope it works.

Looking at the reviews, Valentine Vs Escort are neck and neck. Sort like Chevy Vs Ford PU debate. No radar detector will keep you from getting a ticket if you are not alert. Hell, I was getting tickets 45 years ago and the only radar in use was for airplanes and ships.

The Escort is costing me $210 less (with $100 gift certificate) than the Valentine, with the earphone box. Valentine wants $189 to upgrade 1.7 to 1.8 (exchange) and Escort $75 for what may come up.

They're both good units and "both" can be used with the H.A.R.D. system. I had originally written a glowing testimonial to the V1, but that would have bee a thread hijack. :) The H.A.R.D. system rocks (minor hijack)

Ok here my simple take on this, last week i bought one of each used, on my ride away from home i used the escort and on my way back i used the valantine, same route each time. both alert damn near the same, v1 seemed to alert just about 20% earlyer.

But the selling point for me was the v1 is 100% more visual when it goes off.:attentio:

So in the last 5 day i have bought reviewed and sold the 8500 x50

v1 for me and it will be hard wire and earphone box installed.

p.s. blue hard to see in day, night ok, my review is just common sense.

I had the x50... but added the www.marcparnes.com alert to it... do not look into the light... You can control the brightness with the volume control of the rd unit... very bright during the day... retinal burning at night if you don't turn it down
