Is there going to be a TexSTOC this year? Haven't seen anything from Mellow or Kieth Q on this. Where's the thread (if there is one)?

TexSTOC in Arkansas? Tex as in Texas? We don't like our state so we'll take it elsewhere? What?!?

I really doubt it's because we don't like Texas... but, to be honest, I'd rather ride in Arkansas than Texas.. the Hill Country is OK.. but Arkansas is incredible..
Maybe Arkansas is too far of a ride for ya? he he he

Riding is great up there...and I've only been through it once.
If I can make it, I'll be there but $$ will dictate that. We'll be going through Arkansas in June on the way to IA and I can't wait.

1) I-35 sucks
2) I-35 sucks
3) did I mention, I-35 sucks
4) We were heading to Dubuque, IA and it seemed like a fun ride up through AK and MO to get there. I got to see the Mississippi for the first time and the ride was a real blast.

It looks like someone has some issues with I35! :coolit:
You need to amend it so that I35 sucks, only when you have to ride it! :)

When I get back to Colorado I am thinking about starting a Rocky Mountain HighSTOC (RMHSTOC) But gotta wait until I move back to Colorado and be retired in 2 and 1/2 years. It will be an Annual event. Just like TexSTOC, CheapSTOC and all the rest. Cant wait until then. But for right now I will ride to where ever TexSTOC is held. Only missed i TexSTOC in eight years and that was because I went to my Dads funeral back in 03.

Chuck... no reason to not plan the event... then, in 2 years, it will already have a good following and it will be in your backyard...
So, where and when will RMHSTOC be this year?
I'm game for Arkansas! Colorado will be the wrong direction, we are going back east this fall.

While checking on the yahoo TexSTOC group, saw a June 9th posting from Keith, that he's found a motel for TexSTOC 12:
"Finally made it up to Arkansas to look around. Rode some great roads
and located a pretty good deal on a place to stay. Still working on
dinner for Saturday, but Friday night could be right across the
highway.
The motel is the Super 8, right off I40 and Highway 103. We have a
49.95 rate and they have blocked some rooms. If you call (479-754-
8800), tell them TexSTOC or the Honda group, and be sure to speak
slowly and clearly!
I'll update the website when I return. Headed on to Missouri for a
family wedding. Missed all the storms and had a 75 degree day for a
beautiful ride up through the Ozarks.
Keith
(Please cross-post this to other ST and LD boards too for me. Thanks!)"

i agree..i live near the hill country, tx and yes there is fine ridin out here...but arkansas...wow....i like the wooded hilly twisty roads of arkansas..like hwy 7..
actually my family has a place just on the west side (foothills) of mt magazine...my daughter and I go up there a couple times a year to camp and ride atvs...along with my brothers and sisters..etc..
i have been wanting to take the st up there and ride around a few days in that area...that would be a blast..
however...i am supposed to be up there for two weeks in october....but i promised my dad and siblings, i'd help them build the last two sections of fences up two 800' bluffs....but hopefully i can still get in some st-touring time in that two week period..
maybe i'll see yall out there some where..

I love riding in Arkansas and am making plans to be there. I'm wondering about the planned rides though. Are Thursday & Monday travel days or is everyone getting there Friday night and leaving Sunday? I was there last summer for a week around Hot Springs and Benton. The roads are in great shape and perfect for a motorcycle. Some of the best riding in the Midwest.

Yes the Biker, Blues and BBQ rally is in Fayetteville, AR the same weekend as TexSTOC. If you plan to got thru there that weekend, just be aware it will be pretty crowded. Here is the link with info
http://www.bikesbluesandbbq.org/
Eureka Springs is also usually crowded that weekend and can take a while to navigate thru there. Last time I went to BBBBQ there are a Corvette rally going in in Eureka Springs.

The last issue of Ride Texas magazine had a good write up on northern Arkansas. It included the bbbbq.

Sounds like a pretty cool thing... any other ST owners in Mexico?

Not many, in fact...
Well... as far as I know, here in Monterrey are only another 5 ST1100, and maybe 4 or 5 ST1300...
ST down here is not a "wanna-have bike", you know...
But don't ask for CBR's, GSX's, R1's, lots of BMW's, KTM's and of course, Goldwings!...
Yes... ST owners are an specie in extintion... :(

I know of an ST1100 in Cozumel. The owner of Hotel Cozumel owns that bike. Not in the best of shape (looks)...but it runs great.

I see where 'Ride Texas' magazine has a nice review of the area where TexSTOC will be happening. Clarksville is even on the tear-out map at the end of the story. Some good ideas about eatieries and places to buzz through while we're up there.:)

Be aware that Clarksville is in a dry county (Johnson), so if you enjoy an adult beverage after the day's ride, it will have to be imported.
