I just ordered a 2720 GPS and need to know what all I need to mount it on the bike. I already have a ram ball mount so just need something good and sturdy for the GPS. Saw a nice one at CampSTock but don't remember the name (yes, you even gave me a card which I can't find).
Thanks,
Gary

Did diggers1300 have that locking one??? Lots of options out there... Here's one cradle (http://www.whitehorsepress.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_171_176&products_id=4984&whpsid=4ca864166404f4fea2abe2b669fe89ce)... you'll still need the "diamond shaped" base to attach to the cradle, and an "arm" which comes in various lengths for your preference.

Hey Gary, I just mounted a new 2720 on my ST1300 a few weeks ago. I first tried the Ram-mount cradle, which worked fine; however, I could not put the cover on the face of the 2720 with the Ram-mount cradle, so I purchased the Garmin cradle. It comes with a special little screwdriver thing that locks the 2720 in the cradle and it allows the cover to be put on while the unit is still in the cradle.
I used the MCL center plate with a 3/8" ball mounting hole. You put this in place of the "Honda" logo'd one. I also used the mid-length MCL arm and this attached to the triangular ball plate that attaches to the cradle. This puts the 2720 about even with the grips right in the center and allows complete view of the speedometer, etc. Getting the key in and out of the ignition requires a bit of reach-around, but isn't difficult.
I also mounted a Powerlet outlet just below the right side glove compartment and I purchased the Powerlet adaptor cable from SpoiledBiker.com. He was extremely helpful and the items I got from him came very quickly. The adaptor cable plugs into the Powerlet socket and of course, the connector on the back of the 2720. It also has a small audio jack built in (a "Y" type cable). I went to my local Radio Shack and bought some ready-made adaptor cables and jacks so I could run the audio back under my seat then up to my helmet speakers.
The helmet speakers were part of the microphone/speakers that came with the audio system that came with the bike that I never needed so I didn't install it. I cut the mike off and also cut the special DIN-type connector off, then wired the speakers to a mono jack so I would get sound in both speakers. Of course I soldered and shrink-wrapped everything and it works great.
I love the 2720. I imagine the Zumo is better, but it also costs a lot more and I have no interest in music, cell phone, traffic reports, etc., when I ride, so I could care less about all that. I do, however, like the voice of the 2720 telling me all the turns, etc. Works really great.
Good luck.

Hey Steve, I beleive it was Diggers that had the locking mount. Parkerbill, I also have the MCL center mount with the ram ball (have my old SPIII there now) which works great.
Thanks

Diggers definately has the lockable mount. I used a threaded rod that I ran down the triple tree hole and double nutted the top and bottom and put a RAM ball at the top and use a Garmin cradle.
