I want to mount a ram ball on the top of my dash for the GPS, so it's more at eye level. I don't really want a dash shelf though. The plastic doesn't seems strong enough to support a GPS... Could I take a thin piece of metal under the dash, secure it, then drill a couple holes through the plastic to mount the ram ball to to the metal? do you think I could do something like that, or just wishful thinking?
TIA

I've since adapted the mount for the Zumo.

wow! that is really nice! that would definitely do what I want. :bow1: Are you making them yourself?? would you be willing to share the plans so I could see about having one made? I am assuming you just used 1/8" aluminum?

That's really some fine craftsmanship. Nicely done.

Wow!!! that is exactly what I am looking for also..... please share :bow1:
Would gladly pay for a mount like this for my Garmin 376 It looks like it uses the exact same 4 bolt mounting pattern.

Very nicely done and thought out. This is just what I was looking for as well. I want to mount a Zumo up there.

wannabe2,
I have no problem sharing the plans and parts list in case you what to make one or many on your own. I am out of the country until the last week in May so that's the earliest I can get them to you. I also need to take some of the bike apart to take photos of the under-structure.
I needed to add another bracket to provide the proper position for mounting the Zumo. I'll provide pics of the Zumo mounted when I return.
