There have been a few people saying that they did different cuts/holes to the inner cowlings etc.. to help relieve the heat problems. Can some of you post some PICS on the different ways people have done this????
Thanks

Here you go. My cuts are 3/4" with a 1/2" space between the cuts. I can now put things in there and they are just warm. Not hot:eek: like they were before the mod.

Dan, Did that also reduce the heat around your lower legs? Or just the front compartments?

I used a finned PC vent pop riveted into place...
works great!

That's pretty cool... no pun intended, well, maybe a little.

I don't have any picts at hand but I used one of the "stepped" drills and just eyeballed a pattern. Seems to work real good without a lot of flash or burrs. Cooling helps a lot!

Or rip them out and attach upper/mid cowl with a small home made bracket.
(some say no bracket is needed, but to flimsey for me without one)
The bonus is that the panels can be re-installed in cold weather.
You get maximum cold air in the summer and warm air in the winter.
Best of both worlds.

It may have helped. When I feel the heat on my legs, and it is not that bad to me, it is hot here anyway. During the summer it is around 100 most of the time. When I go to the Palm Springs area, it will be 115-120  in mid summer. No venting will help with that kind of heat!
It did help the front compartments. I keep a disk lock in there, and before the venting, I could not take it out with out having gloves on. Now, it is just warm.

Sorry no pics here either but ....
I drilled 2, 1 3/4 inch holes side x side in the upper part of each cowl using a door hole bit (saw?) and a cordless drill.
I was concerned about maintaining the strength of the cowl. 2 holes this size and in this location left lots of material yet flowed fresh air directly on the outside of the pocket.
It was quick and easy to get 2 holes lined up so they look stock. It took longer to remove and replace the cowls than it did to modify them
The heat in the pockets is greatly reduced. Now they are warm, not hot.
