Just priced the plastic rivets that are used on the lower and inner cowls of the ST1300 and they are $2.50 EACH! from Honda. Does anyone know of anyone who sells these in small quantities and a smaller price!

I've had good luck at Lowe's. They have a wide selection of sizes.

Will any type of fastener work, as long as it's the right diameter?

JC Whitney (http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2009913/c-10111/Nty-1/p-2009913/Ntx-mode+matchallpartial/N-10111/tf-Browse/s-10101/Ntk-AllTextSearchGroup?Ntt=plastic+rivits) has these plastic rivits. I've seen some at either an auto parts store, Home Depot, or Lowes. Honda prices are insane on those little plastic rivits.
Find a good auto paint supply store, they usually cary a selection of the special push pin connectors. Problem is there are so many available and even there they will be a buck each.

I found some this weekend at Neihaus Appreciation Days from one of the vendors there. I think there were 10 in the pack for 6 bucks! Of course I picked up a pack. I think they said custom chrome on the package, maybe they have a website?!?

I tried an auto parts store, it was quite time consuming as they looked and looked to find one that seemed to fit...
Bought them at JC witney, you want the ones they advertise for the goldwing, exactly the 2 needed for the ST. Last time I had the fairings off (right side anyway) to bleed the brakes, the rivets on the bottom kinda 'fell apart' when removing them.
Honda dealer didn't agree when I said they should be covered under warranty ;)

I ponied up the $5.00 for two when my dog ate them off the floor when I was adjusting my foot brake pedal while installing MCL peg lowering brakets. Learned not to let the dog in the garage when working on the bike.

Phil,
Since I no longer have my ST1300 and was selling off my ST1300 accessories, I forgot that I had some spares of both the Splash clips (5 of these and push rivets (5 of these), all in their original bags, unopened... I think I paid 25.00 bucks for all of them... for 12.00 plus 1.50 shipping they are yours. Or someone else can have them for that... just let me know.
Part no. for Splash Clip is 90657-SB0-003
Part no. for Push Rivet is 90116-MCS-G00
