Currently came from Suzuki M109R where my passenger did not get bombarded with wind. Took a long ride Sunday and passenger had tons of wind. I have stock 06 1300 with shield all the way up and still doesnt help. Will a aftermarket sheild help along with the rubber mirror and fairing deflectors help? It seems the wind is coming up the side of my leg and hitting passenger in the shoulders and head. Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Brad

You will get fewer complaints if you lay off those bean burritos.

Perhaps some of those deflectors on the fairing will help you. A cheap experiment may be to alter the windshield angle. Search here and you can find the procedure.

Also search on the aftermarket windshields. There are several brands out there, and many people here have changed theirs, so you can evaluate their results.

There is also an add-on called a Laminar Lip which may be of use.

So far my stock 'shield has kept SWAMBO from complaining, if it is in full up position.

Brad,
I went with a Clearview GT large shield, Honda fairing and mirror wind deflectors, and CalSci lower mirror wind deflectors. After a lot of experimenting that is what has proven the best to us.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a VStream made by NationalCycle. I've noticed a difference in being able to ride and still hear my music, not as bad buffeting passing large trucks. Also, I took my wife on a 140mile ride this last Saturday and she never complained of anything, meaning she didn't noticed any wind issues. :biker:

The ST1300 shield looks a little different then this, but it's not bad. I don't have pictures yet, but I will in a couple of days.

This is one from ebay but the angle makes it look weird.

We have also purchased the V-Stream and it does exactly what they say it will! We have been very pleased, in the rain it is amazing where the water goes! IMO you can't go wrong here. The slip stream is at least 8" to each side of both helments and in the full up we get no wind buffeting over the top.

I went with the large clearview and the mirror and fairing deflectors. It helps a lot, but in dirty air like you experience in traffic or in gusty cross winds she still gets buffeted around some. The quiet pocket of air is very small on the ST--appropriately since its a sport tourer, and you are not going to get gold wing like comfort.

I've found the biggest difference is made b not riding close to traffic if I can help it.

Very Cool

Add a set of Cat Eyes vents & you have an 1100 windscreen...

i switched windshield this year with a new Ermax which is 3 inches higher and 5 inches wider ,$200 canadian, anyways my girlfrien said that theres a lot less win for her and for me also of course so i added a black heated seat cover for a car seat and it covers me and her seat and makes the ride on my butt a lot easier and cooler compare to stock seat...$12.00 ,maybe later i will spend a grand for the better seat but for now i think it works pretty good but the look is not that great, a lot of explaining at the Tims coffee shop lot though...oh well.

Seems to be a universal problem with the stock shield. My passenger (wife) experienced the same problem. I could improve the buffeting by raising the shield completely, but then I experienced a significant amount of back pressure. I purchased an Aeroflow shield, and that solved the problem. The wife is comfortable even with the Aeroflow in the lowest position.
