Does anybody here use one of these? And if so how easy is it to install? Looks like a perfect solution to put my Sat.-Radio's antenna on! Price is right!

BES has 2 of those on her bike, one on each side. They look GREAT! Like they are supposed to be there.

Looks like a really nice alternative to a dash shelf. Just make sure that the screws you use are the right length. Too long or too short will not be good. When I mounted my dash shelf I found the right size at Lowes in their speciality fastener drawers.

Tom makes some fine accessories and this looks like another hit.

Who makes a dash shelf for the ST1300?

Fred,
I have my XM antenna sitting on this shelf, it's perfectly sized.
It takes all of 2 minutes to install, if that.

The right size screws come with it. I've got one and really like it. I've got a camera hanging off one side of it, radar detector on top, and my xm radio bolted onto the front.

How did you bolt the XM radio onto the front? Got any pics? Sounds good!

I bent a thin piece of aluminum I got from Lowes and cut to fit. I put velcro on the front of the plate and on the back of the Roady. The plate actually hides a lot of the wires going to the accessories. The bolt sticking up is where I screw my camera/camcorder on videoing rides. It works pretty well.

Here's another pic before I put the xm radio plate on. I put an extension on the rack to mount my camera on. Again, I bought some aluminum flatbar at Lowe's and cut to length. I bent another smaller piece into a hook and it mounts in the grooves on the front of the dash to support the camera. That extension isn't necessary for just the xm radio mount.

I have those on both sides and really like them. They did contact and scratch my windscreen when it was fully down, so I had to alter them with a radius on the outside corner. I used a quarter to trace the radius and a Dremel to cut off the corner. Works fine now.

This post is just to let you know that I like the mount, just be careful when you install. Maybe it's just an ST1300 problem? Or maybe a maxib problem? In any case, I like the product and recommend it.

Have one on the right side holding my Valentine One. Works like a charm. Make sure to order the version that is extended toward the rider to prevent the problem with hitting the windscreen.

I've got it and it's a solid, well built, shelf. For what, I don't know yet! LOL...it was purchased for the future radar detector but, for now, just sits there.

Takes all of 2 minutes to install. Remove two screws install shelf with included screws and spacers. Done. Go ride.

NOTE: +1 on Mark Rickards comment to get the one that places the shelf closer to the rider and farther from the wind screen. The first one I received I had to send back because it was contacting the stock windscreen. The second one fits perfectly.

I hate to do this, but I gotta poll you guys on this product - $42.95 for the product itself - not unreasonable, but $9 for shipping via ground for a half pound product? then a $5 handling fee? That hadn't been mentioned before, and the idea itself kinda rubs me the wrong way. And to cap it all off, they don't accept Amex (I know it's just me, but I avoid Visa/MC). Does anybody feel the same way or is it just me?

I know Tom posts here, and I don't mean any kind of personal ill will, but for what it's worth, I came >this< close to getting one just now but there were just too many strikes...

Any products that have anything to do with an ST seems double the price of anything else. I'm at least as frugal as almost anyone else, but I didn't like the looks of the full size dash, and didn't want to hang a bunch of crap off my handlebars either. This shelf looked like the best thing for my personal taste, so I bought it.

I must admit, it really is a good fit and quality product. Someone saw it on my bike after I installed it and thought it was a stock item for the bike. I can't believe I am actually typing this but, 'Quality lasts when price is long forgotten.'

Now, I feel like I need to put my spare change in my piggy bank.

The shipping charges are what UPS charges me to ship a product. The rates are tied from their website to mine. The handling charge is a flat fee per transaction for the box, packing material, and what ever else goes into the shipment. $5.00 might seem like a lot for a small box, but some of my parts that I ship, the box alone is $12.00, the foam in place bags are $1.20 each.
The $5.00 is still charged on those shippments.

Some businesses elect to just cover those costs in the price of the part. You as a customer/consumer pay those fees even if they are not disclosed.

I am a small business and believe that I provide the best service and quality that I can. I like doing business with all of you and have more products in the works for the ST. I will post them soon.

Thanks Tom

Tom, I want to thank you very much for the mini-shelf product I received via UPS yesterday. I will be installing it this morning and I can tell already it's going to look pretty sharp! Great product! Worth every penny! See ya at the TurboCity TechSTOC this June 30th. I wish more retailers would hold such events at their cost and support our ST's. There are so damn few manufacturers that make ST STuff.

A list of my TC STuff:

Rear rack (Tom installed free)
FPR
Air Filter (Tom installed free)
Mini-shelf
Thermostat (Tom installed free)

Well, see, that's exactly it - with most re/etailers, the price is covered and I know the cost going into the deal, and I don't find any more bad news right before I click 'confirm'

Honestly, the product looks the business and I'm sure it's worth the cost, but the check-out process sticks in my gullet. And I don't have the benefit of finewest's history. Heck, I may get one still, but I'll need to be able to swallow the process. Any chance you'll be taking AMEX soon?

Sorry, I don't think we will be accepting Amex any time soon.

The discount rate is double what any other card is. That is each time I accept a credit card, a percentage is paid to the card issurer. The Amex rate is twice/ double the Visa/MC/Disc. Maybe I can find another way to get your business. Please PM me if you are interested.

Remember, the code TURBO ST in the order comments will get you the forum discount.

<Tim Taylor> Aauuraghh?? </Tim Taylor>

And just how much is this forum discount of which you speak? (Sorry, I don't usually comb this forum top to bottom every day)

Tell me this: If I order multiple items, would the the 'handling' charge be applied to each item? Would I be able to save on shipping charges?

And lastly, what about paypal?

Sorry, I'm really not trying to make this difficult.

The forum discount is unpublished as we had a price increase April 15,2007.
The discount would be the pre increase price of $39.96 and would be good for 45 days from April 15th.

The handling charge is per shippment(one only) no matter how much you order.

For this small item, you could request USPS shipping. The freight charge will be adjusted at the time of invoicing to what ever the USPS rate is (actual charge to me). Anyone can request this on any order. Remember no tracking and minimal insurance with UPSP.

Please understand that this type of transaction requires alot of "special" handling, as it is not the normal daily type transaction. I believe that we go the extra step for customer service.

Yes, I can do Paypal if you like.

Thanks Tom

That is one nice looking shelf! Looks like it is supposed to be there! Like I said earlier in this thread, I saw 2 of them on Sue's bike and really liked them. GREAT JOB TURBO TOM!

As far as shipping and handling goes, I'm sure he would let you pick up the items and not charge it... BUT you would have to pay sales tax... Sounds like a good excuse for a ride???

I am considering purchasing one of the left dash mounts for the ST1300. I have some questions that I hope somebody can help with.

1. This thread includes references to a version of this dash mount that is extended towards the rider to avoid hitting the windshield. I only see one version indicated on the turbocity website (80-663 left) and it doesn't appear to extend towards the rider. Does anybody know the correct p/n?
2. Does anybody know if this dash mount will work if you have the Honda mirror deflectors installed?
3. Is it safe to assume this dash mount can be used with after market windshields (Aeroflow & Clearview)?

Thanks,
tman

Just FYI.

I received a response from TurboCity indicating:
- The only bracket they ship now is extended towards the rider. They no longer make the standard unit.
- The dash mount is compatible with the mirror deflector kit.
- The dash mount should work fine with an Aeroflow screen.

Got my shelf yeSTerday (without the screws, so I think my transport guy loST them).
Anyway, no problem, I have screws...

My idea was to STick the dashboard mount (for the cage) of Garmin on the shelf and then put my 2820 in it.
Does not work with shield in lower position.

Then I tried to find a way to mount the RAM ball on it, but then I need a swivable RAM arm.
Asked MC Larry if he could ship it on time for me, but no answer yet.
Now I could try to keep a cup of Italian coffee on the shelf (we do not have mountains here)

I was in Florida laST week, found the box the shelf was shipped with and found the screws.

So my transportguy left them together with the peanuts in the box.

I hate packaging peanuts (for more than one reason)
