Can someone shed some light (pardon the pun) on replacing the stock 45/45 bulbs with 55/55? I've seen a few threads on this and sometimes spacers are mentioned and sometimes not? I'm ready to make the switch but would like to buy the right things I need the first time. Thanks.

The source for these lights is California Sport Touring (link is below). I use the phillips bulbs which are very good and probably equal to the osram. The spacers are on the same page. I have read some people were able to mount their new lights without using them, but I would reccommend not trying that. Replacing the headlights is an excercise in patience. Go slowly and follow the instructions in the owners manual and those that come with the spacers. There are some threads here and at the MSN address below that might help. Good luck!!

Steve (NewsMag) has a nice little write up in this post:

You do need the shims and you can either cut or bend the lower tabs on the new bulbs.

Thanks for all the help. I ordered a set from CalSci yesterday. I went with the OSRAM. I should have done this while my forks were removed.

Ordered mine (Osram Silver Star H4 2 Pack) two days ago. California Sport Touring said yesterday they ran out of the H4 bulbs and are expected to ship within the week.
Will post the results when they arrive and get installed.
