Never too early to start planning, especially while the sleet and snow is falling! I've got my CheapSTOC route fleshed out and am working on a route to/from Hoot/EaSTOC.
Who else is planning to go to the Hoot and EaSTOC?

I didn't check the dates until too late to schedule the vacation.
Only 2 techs are allowed vacation during any given summer week at Bellsouth in Mobile. :banghead:
I guess I'll have to injure one of the scheduled techs so he can take sick leave instead of vacation. :duck:
If possible I'll be at EaSTOC...Honda Hoot maybe next year. :mcrider:

Well gee, since EaSToc/IronHorse campground is only an hour away, I guess I have no excuse for not being there. :mcrider:
Was the scheduling of EaSToc at the same time as the Hoot done on purpose? If the 'group' wants to attend the Hoot for a day, I'd go along, but sitting here 6 months prior to the event, I'm ambivalent as to attending the Hoot.

Me and the wife are going to EaSTOC. *Maybe* the Hoot, but not sure - wouldn't be against swinging by one day.
Anyone else traveling I-75 South to get to the area? If so, maybe we could meet up along the way and ride down.

I think I read about the Honda Hoot in Knoxville in June (Red Rider magazine), but I have not read anything about eaSToc.
I am new to this and know very litttle about the Hoot and nothing about eaSToc. Where do you learn about eaSToc?

I just called Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge to make reservations for EaSTOC and found out that you have to share a bathroom with another room for the cabins ($55-65) and they only have 3 rooms that have a private bath - and those are $80 a night. From past trips I know that the motel room only ends up serving as a place to sleep - you know the drill, ride all day, and hang out and shoot the breeze until late, then go in and go to bed.
For me, $55-65 a night is too much money to have to share a bathroom/shower with another room's occupants. And $80 a night is an awful lot for a room that you are only going to use to crash in at the end of a long day.
I will probably end up staying down the road at the Tuskeegee Motel (for about $40-50 a night and have my own bathroom) and just come over and hang out with everyone until bedtime.

I'm interested in other STers $.02 on events such as the Hoot and EASTOC. I typically ride to get away, which makes me wonder how much I'd enjoy an event that's packed with people. I did Americade once and it was just too many people. Granted they were motorcycle people, but so many!
Thoughts or opinions?

This will be my first ST event (EaSTOC) but I hear that there are usually around 20-30 ST'ers that attend. I don't like huge crowds either, so the Hoot is probably out for me, but ya never know. Besides, that'd be burning good riding daylight.
I am looking forward to EaSTOC and meeting a bunch of other ST'ers and sitting around after a good days ride and talking shop - ST-shop :)

There's a long thread on the MSN board about a get-together on Hoot weekend.

If you want a event that is not packed with people come out to Texas for cheapSTOC in April.

Does this group know about EaSTOC? If not, spread the word.

I just made my reservations at the Iron Horse. I'm in a bunkhouse for $19.50 a night. I figure that it'll only serve as my bed anyway, so no big deal. Anyone snores, I'll roll em over! I was considering tenting it, but I don't want to have to get and pack all that gear.
Anyone else here going to eaSToc?

Brian,
I'll be arriving Wed. afternoon/eve. of the 22nd. I'm listed on the EaSToc site as camping, but Chris Parker and I rode over to Ironhorse Saturday to check it out, so while I was there I booked a room for my wife and I.
If I end up buying a trailer, we'll let the room go to someone else and camp out.
Here is a VERY long list of ST owners who intend to be there:

When are you arriving?

I'll be getting there on Thursday afternoon...probably around 5:00 or 6:00.
I'll be riding there from my wife's mom's place in Aynor, SC. About 350 miles.
I'm gonna wimp out and trailer the bike from CT to SC because actually the whole family (me, wife and 3 kids) are gonna go to SC. They are gonna visit with family while I come out and see you guys.
Are you staying until Sunday or are you leaving earlier? I'm stayin till Sunday morning.

Leave Sunday morning also for the incredible long haul home. Made the trip from Ironhorse to home last Saturday in one hour and 37 minutes.
