I am real close to getting the 1100x's for my ST> I like the Size/appearance and cost (found them for $183.00 for kit.)
Any of you out there have any experience with these?
I want to mount them under the mirrors, so I need to find out if the Dick Seang (sp?) mounts for the 910/912's will work, or if I am going to have to make something on my own.
Thanks
Dave

Over on the ST1300.US site, "SeattlePhil" has some photos of 1100X lights on an '03. Can't really see the picture of the mount too clearly though. He apparently is no longer a member, so you'll probably either have to ask Dick, or post the question over there. I think they are the Ron Major mounts.
Photo's here:

Dick Seng also has the PIAA 912X series for sale ($250) in addition to the 910's ($290) - the mount's are $85.

If price is an issue there are members that have been using Hella Optilux light with some success. They are more like $50 for a pair.

Thanks for the links, I sent Dick an email. After seeing the pictures of the 1100's mounted under the mirrors, I am not sure If I like the looks. I think that model would look better mounted on the forks or elsewhere. I will look at the Hella's again too. I am looking for something that will balance between function and appearance.

I have the PIAA 910s on Dick Seng's mounts below the mirrors and I'm pretty certain that the 1100s will not fit that mount.
I also have the PIAA 1100x mounted on the forks at the reflectors as conspicuity lights. I purposely aimed the 1100s low so as not to blind oncoming drivers, but want the 1100 beam up high enough to see further than the low beams of the bike.
With the 1100s and the 910s all lit, it's an awesome amount of light.

Not sure I know how to attach photos, but here goes. "Tigress 1" is a photo of PIAA 910s and el cheapo Auto Zone conspicuity lights. They worked okay, but really didn't do much for the lighting situation - weren't focused enough to much beyond the low beams, but did add a bit on the peripheral and moved with turns (obviously) I did find that even with these lights as conspicuity lights, I had fewer "Oh, S**T" moments because cagers saw me more often.
"Tigress 2" is with the 910s and Auto Zone lights "on" The 910s are simply awesome!
"Tigress 3" is the new setup with the PIAA 1100x replacing the Auto Zones. The 1100s are a little smaller than the Auto Zone lights, but considerably brighter and a lot more focused. As you can see, I haven't wired them up yet because I can't decide if I want to connect them directly to the battery and have another switch in the cockpit, or simply tie the wiring into the existing where they were on all the time (switched thru ignition) Wiring probably isn't going to happen real soon as it's cold, snowy and my garage isn't heated.

Dave,
I don't want you to get to talking about garages when you get around my ST.
You gotta' understand, I love my ST...but I just can't afford to garage it like you do your FJR :bow1:

Well, that is my neighbors house/FJR not mine..He is the sales manager for a Yamaha dealer here. Course he's 46 and still single. Wonder why? ;)
As we all love our bikes, please read this;
I used to park my bike in the house. I had a nice spot, out of the way in a dining area.
The house I was occupying was a nice 4 br 2 story.
I awoke one weekend morning and got out of bed, opened the bedroom door. What the ____ is that smell...Oh **** GAS!!!
I looked from the top of the stairwell at the dining area and there was a shimmering puddle of gasoline under my bike. The puddle was about 7-8 feet in diameter. As I flew down the stairs I flung open the double front doors and headed for the bike. As I got to the dining area, I opened the sliding patio door and quickly wheeled the bike outside.
I suddenly realized I had my head way up my butt and ran upstairs to evac MY FAMILY!!
Everything I loved was upstairs and I am amazed that did not lose everything that morning. The water heater and furnace w/pilot lights were just around the corner from the dining area.
Luckily, the furnace was turned way down because my opening the doors allowed a rush of cool air into the house right where the thermostat was..It could have triggered the furnace burner and........
As it turned out an oil line under the fuel tank (oil in the frame) had rubbed a hole in the tank.
I love my bike but my family will always come first.
Please learn by my mistake!!

Well, I found some 55W driving lights today at a local auto supply place. Made some brackets and mounted the lights on the forks/fender. They are silver and match the bike pretty close.
Here are some pictures:

Hi Dave*
I have the 1100X`s (ST1100) mounted on the side panels.....under the mirrows. The P/O on my `97 had installed them there. Very stable and they do provide alot of light. I sold that bike last year and bought another 1100. One of the first things I did was install a set of 1100X`s.....Same way. After a total of 4 years/80K miles....I`d do it again. Same way! Btw,check out ebay. I just bought another set. $127 (incl.shipping)
Don
I've mounted a set of 55w
Ring Micro Cruise-lites (http://www.edirectory.co.uk/pf/pages/moreinfoa.asp?pe=BDEFAGGQ_+Ring+Micro+Cruise+lite&cid=880) under the mirrors on mine, just used the supplied brackets.

I have the PIAA 1100's, the Seng mounts and some ideas that I'll be trying to implement shortly. If the mounts were designed with the mounting centers a bit closer, it would be easier to use 1100's, however I was able to use a slightly larger metric cap bold thru the Seng mount to secure the small chrome PIAA bracket. (this is the bracket that comes with the powersports 1100's, not the automotive lights). I used a bolt as a spacer to fill the round gap at the bottom of the seng mount. Kinda hard to describe the whole thing, but I thinks is should be secure and look good. Some threadlock should keep it solid. Let me know if you'd like a photo and I'll see if I can get a shot of it.
How are the plastic mirror fairings holding up to the heat?
Haven't used them for any extended periods yet so difficult to tell. Think the longest they've been on is for about 45 minutes. No holes and no scorch marks so fingers crossed.

Adam Koczarski has a pic sequence showing how he fitted PIAA 912's including brackets to his ST1300 here. Lots of other Farkles for the ST1300 on his web site:
