I am considering the same mount for my 5, ordered a CB today for the new STeed and the shop manual, all of a sudden spring can't get here soon enough, well the bike can't get here soon enough so I can get it ready for the first ride.
How do you power it, battries or do you run it off of the bike battrey?

What type/brand CB did you order?

Ditto...there are probably still pieces of a StreetPilot laying on I-40 after I hit a rough stretch in Knoxville a couple of years ago....

I loop and velcro now....

Lola, I ordered an Cobra 75 from Sierra Electronics, I really don't listen to music much on the road when I am traveling with a couple of my riding buddies, so all I really wanted was the cb. It is one that is a direct plug in for my hondaline headset, dont need a passenger plug in either as my wife don't ride anymore, no intercom needed. The price was 219 for the cb 20 bucks cheaper than what was listed on the air rider site for the same radio, and then I got the Sierra antenna and mounting kit, antenna will come off very easily for covering the bike, just push it in and turn and it comes off. The unit will mount on the left handle bar using a lexan mount that he sells, uses the clutch mounting bolts, says the unit is waterproof, has 4 watts of power. The antenna is a 3 foot fiberglass one, and I am not going to have a top box so the mount is the typical license plate type. paid 303 for everything, and I can use my headset, if I would have bought the J&M it would have been twice as much and a little change, and I would have had to replace my headset with theirs. I think it was a 75wsxt direct plug in. He said I should have it Tuesday, that helps as the bike won't be released to my dealer until Feb 28th so first week of March at the earliest before I can even look at it. Danny

RC on my wing and my XR dual sport I powered the 5 off of the battrey directly, that way I didn't have to re start it up everytime I turned the key off and on. Just left it on all the time when on a ride, shut it down at the end of the ride and removed from the bike unless at home in the garage.
