Starcom owners, I need help!
I have a Starcom communications unit mounted in the tail section of my ST1300.
It does a great job running a MP3 player and Motorolla radio off it.
I purchased a Garmin 2610 and need to wire it to the Starcom.
California Sport Touring sells the Starcom GPS/radar detector ($40) and an audio splitter ($17) from Starcom.
Problem.... the gps cord is only 36" long!!!
I'll figure I need an audio cord that is 60" long with a 3.5mm connector at the Starcom and a 2.5mm connector at the Garmin.
Does Garmin send their audio prompts in stereo or mono?
Will a 60" stereo cable with a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter from Radio Shack work with the Garmin?
What are the riders that have a Garmin GPS and Starcom using?
TIA

I believe it outputs it in stereo but you don't need both sides. A radioshack cable would do it although you are going to want to put a ground loop isolator on the audio feed.

I ordered this one and it works great on my 2620. My Starcom is mounted the same place as yours and the cable is long enough to run under the gas tank, through the fairing and up to the riser area where my RAM mount is for the GPS.

Skydog,
This cord looks like it only gives you power to run the Garmin.
I already have power from the Garmin to my power distribution box ( also in the tail section).
What I need is an audio cable , 2.5mm (garmin end) to 3.5mm (Starcom audio connection) that is approx. 60" long so that I can listen to the voice prompts.

Curt,
Does the ground loop isolator stop buzzing?
Is this ground loop isolator a separate unit or can I buy a cable that has this capability?
I bought a 60" audio cable from radio shack to listen to my MP3 player (3.5mm at both ends) through the Starcom. I works fine with no buzzing.
I'll probably need a 3.5mm to 2.5mm reducer at the Garmin end and an audio splitter (2-3.5mm to 1- 3.5mm) to plug into the Starcom audio port so that I can listen to the MP3 and get voice prompts from the Garmin.

Andy,
If you go to the link and click on the picture there, you can see that this is the power AND audio all in one. If you just need the audio, this is not what you want, but if you can't find anything, you might consider it as a replacement to your current power cable. Just trying to help. :mcrider:
