I would like to know if anyone has tried doing any handling improvements for their ST1300. My riding style is 70% sport/30% touring. I have just ordered a HyperPro shock and spring for the rear of the bike. Has anyone tried replacing their fork springs? I weigh 275# ready to ride. I talked with HyperPro about their progressive wound fork springs but I'm simply not sold on them. I just don't see how the same fork spring could work for both a 150# rider and a 275# rider. I understand the theory behind the progressive wind spring but it would make more sense if they came in different "ranges" so to speak. I specifically asked HyperPro if the bike would sag more with me on it with their springs than say a 150# rider and they replyed "yes". I thought the purpose of using different rates of springs was to get the optimum sag numbers for different weights of riders.

Any feed back would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I saw your post on the MS website also. I've got the shock ordered and also ordered their fork springs. I guess I need to call them to see if the springs include the fork oil.

One thing I did last week that really helps if you want to push the bike hard: Take off the Helibars and go back to stock handlebars. I love the feel of the Helibars when I'm on the superslab or taking it easy but if you get in the mountains and you start pushing the scooter, you need to be low and forward. Putting the seat in the lowest position gets my weight down even lower.

Dressed out, I'm going at about 278 #, should be an interesting comparison.
