I have completed my first fun ride after the rains and I am de-stressed. It was good to get out and I could not have asked for better riding conditions.
The ride to Temecula was an uneventful slab ride from my house, 75 to 80 in the slow lane. There were not very many other bikes out, mostly trucks and motor homes pulling their toys. After topping off in Temecula and cruising through Corona I finally got to the fun part of 79. For some strange reason all the toy pulling trucks seemed to have vanished, which was alright by me. Stopped in Warner Springs to watch the Sail Planes, all 1 of them. After a little water, I headed off to Julian.
Julian is a nice little town but, I did not stop. All the places that looked interesting to stop for were surrounded with the Harley types and I was not really in the mood for any “Get a real bike” BS, so, off to Glamis I go thru Anza – Borrego. The desert, in the winter, is a beautiful place. Do you think it is because you’re not focused on staying alive? The roads were in good shape, the traffic seemed to have cleaned the debris from the road. The road by the off-road play ground was a different story; it was a mess…very rough and sandy. So rough if fact, that, I was bumped around on my seat a few times. This is not the place to go fast. Too bad, it was dead straight.
At the 78/86 split, I called to check in, well, there goes lunch in Glamis.
86 North is a good road, smooth, clean and a slight breeze.
The rest of the ride was the 10 home, from Indio thru Palm Springs. The best part of the 10 freeway…NO WIND. This was the part I was not looking forward to, it is usually miserable, especially were the wind mills are located.
As soon as I get the pictures and map copied, I'll post. Here you go.
