Saturday I was HOPING,,, to make an announcement to the 50 or so who were going to gather... But,,, when about 400 showed up,,, I hid under the trees instead... :duck:

What was my announcement???

Well,,, "So Far",,,

We have been able to raise $2,500 for the Mexico Mission and I made the check out Saturday!!!

Also,,, we were able to give $500 to the local "Crisis Center" which helps many people in need...

And we were able to give $500 to the local Food Pantry as well!!!

So,,, so far we have raised over $3,500 and I am just guessing but still have about $1,000 of shirts/decals/coozies still to sell,,, and they will sell... :D

Also,,, we were a major reason that the local person Scott Ellis who is battling Cancer was able to raise over $1,500 for Scott in a raffle who,,, the Winners of the Raffle money donated the money back to Scott... About makes me cry every time I think of it... :o:

Kevin Baker/Oneshot donated the VERY COOL Machined out "Moonshine Lunch Run 2007" metal brake reserves that many (((like me))) are using attached to their bike as a very cool badge... We sold some of them,,, and we gave some away to the Long Distant Riders as well... Well,,, all we could find in the rain/snow storm back in April that is... :o: :bow1:

Brad Esler made and donated the VERY COOL "Moonshine Lunch Run 2007" stickers in both Silver and Black!!! We sold quit a few but still have a supply... You still can get 1 or 3,,, but also,,, just know,,, that they will be around next year with the 2007 cut off... ;):bow1:

Bob Schultz donated the Name Tags which we seem to have done a crappy job of getting them to the correct people... I THINK,,, what got this all screwed up was,,, MANY,,, thought if they signed in "On-Line",,, they did not need to sign in when they showed up and,,, many who were there,,, never got their name tags... Then,,, throw in "The Mother Of All" bad weather weekends and you have a major part of the reason we screwed up... But,,, Bob contacted me,,, asked to help,,, donated his time,,, effort,,, and $$$ so as we all could have a name tag... At worse case scenario,,, you can pick them up next year at the Moonshine Lunch Run if you missed out on yours this year... ;) :bow1:

DavidLSI/David Narens from over on the STN site donated VERY COOL signs that if it wouldn't have been snow/rain we would have placed on the way to Moonshine this year... But,,, come next year,,, they will be used!!!:D He also did the "Welcome" and Sign In Here" signs that were adorning the lobby at the Comfort Inn... Sure made it lots better and his help again was unasked for,,, just 109% given to help out something he thought was cool... :bow1:

Also,,, so MANY helped in any way they could!!! Some helped by leading groups to Moonshine countless times in the Cold/Rain/Snow/Cold that day...:bow1:

Some sold shirts... I mean,,, I am guessing very,,, Very,,, VERY,,, V E R Y,,, few RTE's have 2 Iron Butt Rally riders selling shirts and signing in people like we did this year with Curt Gran and Rebecca Vaughn!!!:bow1:

To Jody Lutker/Biddyman who donated 1,000's of hours and endless stupid e-mails from me to help out with the Moonshine-run.com site!!! He did so many things under the radar,,, it would be impossible to mention them all,,, and could not even think,,, of doing it without his help again!!!:bow1:

To all the others who helped all I can say is,,, THANKS!!!

What is so COOL,,, about all this is,,, Something that is doing so much good,,, came from something So Goofy... ;)

Ah... didn't YOU start all this?... Goofy.... makes sense to me.. lots of great people out there willing to help a little which translates to a lot for those on the other end.

Kudos to you my friend, as none of this would be possible without your persistence, patience and selflessness. You da man!

ACL. I think I know why you had such a turn out. We stopped at the HD dealer in effingham on the way home and saw a lot of the same folks that we saw at moonshine. Even saw a few moonshine shirts! I think the word got out and people made a day of it.

Had a great time and meet some new friends also.

Keep up the good work that you are doing for the charities.

Kreis already made resurvations for us, Lisa might come but I'm not counting on it it.
Too COLD and too WET for her. We need a base Moonshine sticker and year stickers to add on every year !

Glad to hear it George!!! If you make it for that,,, just as well come in the night before on Thursday and eat free at my house... Planning on it again this year,,, and even with the bad weather,,, everyone really had a good time visiting...

We have never had a "Repeat" winner but,,, you sure have a good shot!!! I am giving away "Long Distant" prizes for Thursday night,,, Friday Elephant Ears,,, Friday night Richards Farm,,, and Saturday too!!! No idea what I am giving away but,,, I am sure they will be quirky with a slight hint of lame thrown in... :duck:

I could not resist as a member over at the MTF posted about seeing the Moonshine Shirts on riders,,, at the check in spots during the Iron Butt Rally... It was told to me that this is the case at almost every Motorcycle ride where Long Distance and Hard to achieve rides are held...

This is my post with my attempt with more than just a shade of humor in it,,, but much pride too... :o:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your photos also have helped me determine which are the most important farkels to be selected for long distance riding. For instance, the second picture on page 4.(IBCheckpointVG077) My eyes may be weak, but isn't that a Moonshine RTE t-shirt Mr. Buber is sporting? <G>
Anybody?
Ron
Yes,,, you are very astute in seeing this... :D
We are still in the process of compiling the data required to estimate the exact ratio it WILL,,, improve your chances at the IBR but I think I speak for everyone when I say,,, it sure can't hurt... ;)
Mr Burber has been in the Top 2 Long Distant Riders Awards at Moonshine Lunch Run for 2 years now... He has acquired a "Charter Member" Statis which is held very high in many "Long Distance/Long Riders/Iron Butt Association/John Deere Spring Open House gathering all across this vast World... :crackup
To the bestest guess possible,,, I think at LEAST 15 of the participants in this years IBR have attended the Moonshine Lunch Run!!! Counting prior IBR participants that have attended raises that # WAY up as it is one of the proudest items I will always cherish...:o:
As I set here and ramble on let it be known that there are Moonshine Lunch Run T-Shirts in all 50 States,,, Canada,,, Australia,,, Italy,,, Korea,,, Mexico,,, and Hunt City/Oblong Illinois... I kid you not... ;)
I,,, L O V E,,, long distant riders... I am VERY proud of the Moonshine Lunch Run being taken as a way to show no matter Rain/Wind/Cold/Snow/Heat/Sleet/Hail/Tornados or a GPS challenged spot,,, Long Distant Riders WILL,,, show up,,, and have a blast... :D
I truly hope that the Moonshine Lunch Run will always showcase what other know so little about... Long distant Riders Ride,,, anywhere,,, any weather,,, any month,,, any temp for the love of the ride,,, and the riders they will meet...
If you don't make it to Moonshine,,, you ain't a Motorcycle Rider,,, your just a Motorcycle Owner!!!
I will check on this Bob!!!
I am not sure if it is to early yet but,,, will see what they say...
Last year to get the best rate for everyone I had to threaten to book the whole Comfort Inn on my credit card and give them my USDA Goverment Employee card to get the best rate!!! But,,, they realized I was just wacky enough to do it and gave me the best rate they had for everyone... ;)
