My wife bought me the Motocom audioboss last year. I have been using their headsets but found that the speakers distorted badly whenever I ran the gain up enough to hear.

My headset went bad this month and instead of replacing with the same thing I purchased the Starcom microphone with a mini plug for your own earplug speakers setup from Kim at Ca Sport.

Al has a Starcom so I already knew the pin out was identical on the headset so I was pretty confident this would work.

It came in today and works great. No more volume problems at all.

If you have a Motocomm intercom and need to replace the headset the Starcom headsets will fit and work. I find the audio much clearer and the microphone works fine.

Speaking of which, if you need an extension, you can pick up a PS2 extension and it will work. (Mini Din) BTW, I love my STarcom, but when the wifes on the bike-my MP3 won't work for some reason.:D

I'd bet your problem is with the VOX circuitry on the early Starcom units that was oversensitive. I've always used my Starcom with PTT and still with the VOX control at its least sensitive setting (supposedly turned off) the music would mute and it would key my CB at speeds above 70mph, even lower speeds with pillion headset in the mix. It drove me crazy trying to figure out what was going on, I'd slow down at a safe spot, pull over and the music would start again. Eventually I figured out what was going on as my CB was eating batteries and other riders were complaining about having to crank their squelch to eliminate noise.

Mine's in the UK as I type this being fixed.
