View Full Version : Back pain?
I have suffered with back problems for many years. I originally hurt my back in about 1972 at work. I re-injured it in 1980 and suffered more. Buy 1993 it had improved and after I retired in '94 it got much better. Forward to a couple of months ago. I had read about a product that helped the inventor, a back pain sufferer and motorcyclist, NOT a doctor. My back was behaving but I am always aware that it could be a problem at any time. I like to ride long distances on my motorcycle and I purchased this product as a precautionary device.
On 1/18 while doing something quite ordinary, my back injury re-appeared. Immediately I thought "oh no, here we go again"..Many more YEARS of pain and reduced mobility.
I remembered the product I had purchased and never really used and I used it. Immediately I felt better. Today is 1/22 and as of right now I have no pain whatsoever. The product is called the back-a-line belt and I will wear it for a few weeks to insure my recovery.
I tell you this item is a miracle device. I have no connection with the inventor or his company. I am just a very satisfied customer and recommend the belt to anyone having lower back pain..ANYONE.
Go to http://www.backaline.com/ and check it out, read all the info and make up your own mind.
Oh yea, it feels real good while riding too 8)

Thanks for this post. My Dad who is 53 fell off his Caterpillar 777 Rock Truck several months ago and landed on his back. He has been "down" ever since. He has back pain just walking around the house and riding in a car. Dr says a lifetime of hard work has used his body up and any type of surgery wouldn't help. I may get one of these for him, although I am not sure he'd wear it much - he is VERY old-school, hard headed and a "man's-man".
#9..I really should call you by name but?
I am very sorry to hear of your dad's injury. When I first heard of this back-a-line belt I thought..Snake oil!
I was wrong.
Wishing your dad pain relief and recovery,
Don

The minute I heard of Back-a-line, I ordered one. I have no regrets, the belt with the built-in lumbar support works for me. In fact, after a long ride, I continue to wear it just because it is comfortable (some minor tummy itch, oh well). My back still gets tired on long trips, but the back soreness just isn't there. Several of the guys who ride with me also got one. Your experience may differ but for $40 plus shipping I figured it was worth a try. I don't have a serious back problem like you Don, just some aches and pains that are aggravated by the encroaching years. For the price, I give it :) :) :) :) :) .

I do believe the device is precious and works well. I do not want to detract from that. I just thought I'd add my two cents on the care and feeding of backs. For the past several years, in response to the fact of my growing older (now 54!), I have been trying to take better care of my spine. My method is to try to get out for a long walk once a week. Ten miles seems just right. In the course of the walk, I try to focus nearly constantly on my posture. The entire mantra would be "Waist down, shoulders back, head up, relax, and breath." The idea being to straighten and stretch the backbone and generally keep good posture while walking. I think this does have a beneficial effect on my over-all health and I hope it will keep me from some of the nasty things that happen to people as they grow older like the sinster, "degenerative disk disease." I wish good health to all of you! :)

Short history:
3 compression fractures at age 19 (USMC)
5 years of motorcycle racing in the '60s (TT scrambles)
Sitting at a computer for 33 years (programmer, now DBA)
Heart failure 6 months ago - pacemaker installed (personal farkle)
54 lbs weight loss after heart failure (I was fat)
Now age 61, 5'8" 182lbs.
constant back pain.
I bought the back-a-line last Sept. I helps me hold a good posture when riding. I also wear it for 30 minutes when I get up in the morning. Good product, well worth the price.
After much internet reading about inversion tables, I found a store that has them on display and went and test drove (tried) one. Swambo and I were both very impressed and bought one on the spot. Teeter Hang Ups F5000.

I hang for 3-5 minutes 3-4 times a day. I have had it for 8 days and I think it is really starting to help me. My back feels better every day. It does hurt a little after about 3 minutes, and it also hurts for a while after going back up and re-compressing. But about 5 minutes after hanging, I can't tell you how good I feel. When I get off the table, I put on my back-a-line for a while.
I was going to a Chiropractor and was getting no relief at all except in my wallet, which was much $600 lighter after only 6 visits. Thank goodness for insurance. I was only out $90 for 6 co-pays. After a 3 minute session hanging, I felt much better than after a visit to the chiropractor.
Now, I am neither endorsing inversion tables for everyone, nor am I saying chiropractors don't help some people, but the chiropractor did not help me and the hang up did. And at $299, I will have it for years. My chiropractor visits (insured) run out after 15 and then I am on my own at $80 per visit (and the Dr. says I need therapy 3 times a week, which could seriously cut into my retirement plans. Let's see 80*3=240/week * 52=12,480 :22yikes: ).
If you have back trouble, take a look into the back-a-line and inversion tables. You can get the tables for as low as $149. :p

The problem with back pain is that no one sees it. You know what I mean...a bandage round your head, an eye patch, an arm in a sling or a crutch are all signs for people to give simpathy. It doesn't happen with back pain.
I use a Dianese kidney belt / lower back protector. It gives good support and an added benefit is that it stops your inner bits jiggling about so you run to the toilet less. My wife informs me that that is the next thing we men have to look forward to.
