View Full Version : Sign me up WHERE IS MY ZIPPO??
Oh the shame... Oh the embarrassment, Oh what the heck...
At the MSF course no less... One guy, 9 ladies...
After two days of riding a lil ol' Yamaha 200 single
kinda dirt bike... I swung my leg over ol Blue around
noon to ride to lunch during our session break...
Needless to say, Ol' Blue weighs substantially more
that that little Yammer... Leg over the seat, pull the
bike up off the side stand, lift the side stand with your foot,
keep leaning the bike over to the right till you suddenly realize that
you have just passed the point of no return... Ol' Blue settled nicely
on the tip-over wing, and that's as far as she went... I was laughing
so hard that I had to have one of the instructors come over and help
me get it back on the side stand... The instructor said :"Dang, that is
neat, no damage, why you laughing??" I replied... "Had this one since
04, never been down, and what better irony than to have her go over
at the MSF class...."
Gimme my Zippo...
Putt...

Jeez, if I had a Zippo for every TOT, I'd go broke buying lighter fluid!
Oh, yeah, I quit smoking over 30 years ago. ;)

I've been hesitant to say so but my 07 has been down twice already. Both times at 0 MPH. Thanks Honda for the tipover bars. I don't really need a Zippo but I'll take my "shame" like a man so give me two.
Best and keep it straight up,

Another ego bites the dust! Glad to hear there was no serious damage. Just proves it can happen to any of us.

I hereby nominate Putt for the year end tip over award! I know it will be a while before we decide 'best of' for the year, but at the MSF has to be darn near hall of fame stuff....
You are going to be tough to beat, this year, my friend!

Wonder how many of those at the course were adding up the damage if it were THEIR bike that fell... I see a boost in ST sales due to this very selfless act to help educate the public... I know you meant to do it.

They always seem to happen in the most unlikely places. Nice thing about only the ego being bruised is it leaves no scars. Wait a minute, no scar, nothing to show off later when the stories start flying. :(
The only thing worse would have been if one of the girls righted it for you in your moment of weakness. :D

Talking of which, I dropped my ST on a dirt track road in the NV desert. My buddy who has a HD said to me that if he did that to his, it'd cost him at least $500. I said to him, yeah mine's gonna cost $18 or so. He said, wow, how cool!!

yea, aced it.... Had a LOT of fun on that little Yamaha...
Even did a stoppie for one of the instructors... He said "What the hell was that???" Told him that the other instructor said "lean on the brakes, that
little bike will stop on a dime" So I did.. brought the back wheel up about a foot off the ground... Instructor said: "Don't do that again..."

Tipped over the K100RS in yellowstone this summer.
Damage..
broken aeroflow windshield, snapped saddlebag strut (fixed W/JB weld)
scratched paint. Everything else snapped back in place (mirror) or got fixed with silver magic till I got home to Fla.
Place, parking lot near the steam pools.
Witnesses, too many
Still, it was a wonderful day and I rode up on the Beartooth (212) later:)
