I woke Saturday morning with some bad belly pain - I actually thought I just had bad gas (had Mexican Friday night for dinner). The pain was bad enough that I decided against the ride I was planning.
Fast forward a few hours and there I was in the hospital. Surgery went well and my recovery seems to be going well. Doctor says I can't take the bike out for probably 2 weeks, but says we'll talk about it in a week when I go back to see him...
Has anyone else gone through this and how long did you have to go without riding? I miss riding the ST already...

Been there, but mine was in early Nov, so I had to wait until spring before I could get on the bike, thanks to weather not the surgery. Hope things are going well, and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Heal fast... I still have my tonsils and appendix.. did I spell that right? I'm just a ticking time bomb.

Had bad belly pains two years ago. Turns out it was galstones. My surgeon and I decided before the surgery to remove my appendix at the same time. No need going in there twice right?
I had Laproscopic surgery so I felt pretty good by the end of the second week. Don't rush riding, the ST is a heavy bike and you just had abdominal surgery. Get well soon !

Not me. The last ex BT had the scar, but her removal was prior to my time with her:) She had a tatto on the scar. Classy girl, that.
Just heal up, quick as possible!

Oh yeah......did your surgeon give you pictures of your insides? I got these cool pictures (taken by the Laproscopic camera I presume) of different parts of the surgery. I was amazed how much fat I have inside my belly.
The surgeon even took a picture of his thumb with a smiley face drawn on it (inside my belly). My doctor is a crazy dude.

been there a couple years ago. i thought i had constipation (something i've never had) and even went to the store for some laxative. didn't help obviously. because i'm a man, i decided to wait another day. woke up the next morning and the pain migrated from mid-tummy to lower right and i knew i was in deep doo-doo. got to the hospital. they went in laproscopically, but had to open me up cuz it burst. spent a week in jail -er-a- the hospital. actually spent new year's in the hospital.
because they opened me up, i was off the bike for 3 weeks. you'll know when it's right.

I hope you heal well.
Sorry I can't help you on the recovery time. I was 4 years old when I had my appendix out. I remember the episode vividly.

One thing I have learned so far is my wife is incredibly wonderful. She's taking very good care of me and I owe her big.

Heal quickly and go ride. +1 on Joe's comment. Got rid of a couple of kidney stones, but still have all the other stuff I was born with.
