Although the oak 1x4 is notched and wedged between the handle bars I also have a shoelace tether to satisfy OSHA requirements.

Interesting, very interesting. Don't OSHA regs call for ash in this case? See Section 312-567.1(a) "Material selection for farkle placement, ST-class motorcycles". You might be OK since ash and oak have similar grain.

William Carlos Williams, Bones's sir-namesake, concurs: whenever the poet set bones straight -- he was a medical doctor, too -- he characteristically  merely considered their being In the American Grain (http://www.enotes.com/american-grain/).

I have found a "wonder material" that is extremely handy for fabricating odds and ends on a bike.

I went to Home Depot and purchase a plank of their "plastic wood" that is use for decking. The stuff is all plastic and very heavy. It cuts very cleanly and squarely with a radial arm saw or a table saw. I then use long stainless steel sheet metal type screws to mount it to the plastic on my bike.

I cut a chunk of it about 6 inches long, by an 1½ ince wide, by about 2 inches high to mount an aluminum plate in the cavity where the tools go to bolt my Blue Sea block to. Great stuff to work with.

Completely water and weather proof. If you don't like the brown color, you can either hide it like I did or paint it.

Doesn't anyone use duct tape anymore?

I was thinking the same thing.... duct tape and wire ties. I guess we're 'Old School', Coop.

I love it ! How about a leather thong to hold the organic theme. NO! not that kind of thong, I mean a strip of leather to hold the farkle stick in place.
