View Full Version : Heated grips switch
I finally found it! A switch for my heated grips worthy of mounting on my ST1300.

I have been searching high and low (pun intended) for the right switch, the one that looks like it belongs there.
One of my friends moved to Carson City, NV last year and opened a motorcycle shop, Adventure MotoStuff. He has the web site up and running and that's where I found it...

The whole heated grips kit is available with the nice round rocker switch or the switch is available by itself.

Ray, nicely done! I like the set up and appreciate the link you provided. I enjoy doing business with those smaller shops. They are the heart and soul of American commerce.

Switch is ok but would you better off with the OEM Honda grips? I know lots of people who have paid less at the start (:chicken: ) but landed up paying more in the long run.Or am I missing something?

Switch looks like it belongs there, you did a nice job.

I personally don't think so. This is the third bike I have installed aftermarket heated grips on. They operated flawlessly for the time I owned the bike. At $25 I could completely replace them and be way ahead.

I am installing the same heated hand grip pad you have with the same switch on my FJR this coming week. Also got the power plate.
Nobody seems to complain about these heated pads.
Thanks for the pic. Looks great
Kimpex looks the same as the Dual-Stars, I have run the Dual-Stars three seasons now without a problem and on high they get plenty hot. and like Ray says; for $25.00 I can replace them a lot before I even near the Honda tab for their heated grips.
The switch is sold as a stand alone as well, think I will order a couple.
Great find!

Looks good. That is the same location for the Honda control.

With the OEM grip you get 5 heat settings which for some is better than 2 - you pays your money. :)

Ordered mine last night from him, along with the fenda extenda, now if only the ST would show up I would be happy.

Budweiser, have you ever been able to use the Honda grips above a setting of 2. I don't have them, but have heard they are too hot above 2. Can anybody confirm that? If that's the case having 5 settings is a moot point. I'm fairly certain that I'm going to use Symtex (dualstars) on my new 2005. They have a big advantage in that you can use any grip you desire.

I invested $40 or so for in a Heat Troller control that allows me to dial in the temp on my grips that I like. The $25 warmers they're paired with work great.

Hey!
I`ve seen that rocker switch before! I have one exactly like it.
It was one of two switch options included with the heated grip kit from California Sport Touring. Works great.

I just installed my dual-stars with that switch, mounted in the same location.
I don't need a heat-troller, but they do get really hot without gloves. I wear gloves all the time, but they were nice to use when servicing the bike this weekend.
The warm and cool cycles of the engine for several minutes, allowed me to warm my hands since it was only 4 degrees C out.
