Greets!

My RT manual specified having the 1150RT on the Centerstand to make sure that the tank was filled completely. My St1300 manual doesn't mention it one way or the other. Can you get more gas in by having it on the CenterStand? Enough to make it worth doing?

EDIT: On a related question, how much gas can you get in right after the low gas bar starts blinking?

Side stand for me. Always.

If I run with the light blinking for a few miles I'll just squeeze a bit over 6.5 gallons in. I don't think I've ever been able to get 7 in at a filling.

I always use the center stand. I can get ~ 2 liters more in that way. ;)

I always make it a point to stop every 200-250 miles anyway so topping it all the way off doesn't make much difference to me... I always fill it up on the sidestand.

Distance riding I go for center stand or upright. You never know when you may need that last half gallon. My biggest fill was just over 7.3 gal. I was sweating it and surprised to see that, at least according to the specs, I had almost a half gallon left. If I'm just riding around I'll usually go with side stand.

I always use the center stand.

Here in Oregon you cannot pump your own... the attendants cant believe the emount of gas that goes into the ST.

These doay I mostly fill up with me sitting on the bike. If I get off the bike then I use the center stand.

I use the center stand. I can push the fill a little farther that way I think. The most I ever usually put in is about 6.5 I think and I was able to put in 6.7 after I ran out of gas one day. Then somehow magically one time I put in 7.3 and the gas gauge was in the same place when I ran out the time before. I'm convinced the bike just guesses how much gas it has left.

Centerstand. Always! Get more juice in the tank.

I usually fill up with the bike on the center stand. One time I was albe to fit 7.2 gallons. I usually fill up not so long into reserve and fit 6.6 to 6.8 gallons.

Are there any other states that won't allow you to fill your own gas?

That sounds like an big inconvenience. Also a potential liability on the gas station.

ST is easy to get on CS, so I use it all the time. Most I ever used to fill was 6.6 gals.

I don't live in OR but am a frequent visitor and have always filled my own bike tank.

When I'm makin' miles...like to OR ;-) .. I fill while aSTride. No hurry, then it's up on the C-STand.

Thanks all!

Think I will use sidestand for day to day riding and c-stand for long distance.

Not that you all need me to preach at ya, but filling up the tank while still sitting astride on the bike is dangerous. You know that, I know that, just thought I would mention it ;)

Thanks Mom! 8) I wouldn't want to do ANYTHING dangerous although I did run with scissors the other day. :-)

Ahh, but did you run with them open and in your pocket?

OREGON:
Does not allow you to pump your own gas.

Clarification:
Cagers cannot period... heavy fines to the dealers.

Motorcycles (actually written into the law); the attendant must activate the pump and hand you the nozzle, you can fill your tank, must give nozzle back to attendant. I think MC petitioned this into the law to avoid attendants spilling gas on your bike. Most attendants are great and will even provide you with a rag.

I personally like the service and gas is cheaper here than in states where you have to pump it yourself.

Most i've added was 26.232 litres = 5.77 Imp gal = 6.92 US gal.
Was looking at flashing bars for about 25-30km = 17 miles approx, can't remember for certain how long i was watching flashing bars. A few miles seem like more when the bars are flashing ominously at you.
I try to refuel sooner rather than later to ensure that the fuel pump has more fuel to cool with than less. I suspect that's why Honda has the bars flashing at you for so long.
I usually use sidestand. The amount that you can nurse to really fill it right up is dependent on the type of pump valve you're using. Some allow fast dribble, others are either 'on' at full slow flow, which bubbles and spirts and makes a mess, or off completely. My vfr had an extra flange in the fuel filler neck that allowed the valve nozzle to go inside. It at helped keep spirting to a minimum.

The attendant usually hands me the nozzle and walks off, to help someone else.

NJ doesnt allow you to pump your own but some still do. I have never seen an attendant pump for a bike. Who would allow it they spill everywhere. We do have cheaper gas then the fill your own states. 1.83 for premium.

I now find myself putting the ST on the C-Stand for fill-ups. Seems natural now.

For me always on the center stand. Why not use all your gas tank? BTW I do spot checks on the oil level sometimes while I stop.
