I just received these eyesores today from www.newenough.com. Why? They are on closeout for $59 (original price=$250  ) and offer the most protective features I have ever seen.
I've had my Held "Steve's" for about 15K and was never completely sold on the level of protection offered. Before the "Steve's" I had worn through the palms of a pair of Alpine Stars GP-Plus. The A-Stars had carbon fiber knuckle protection and felt like they could take a hit. The "Steve's", although well made and comfortable, couldn't inspire the same confidence.
If you can get over the "Transformers" look to these gloves, they are worth the sixty bucks. Well, they are worth the sixty bucks regardless. Protection includes Pittard's Armor-Tan leather and floating titanium protectors. These gloves were instantly comfortable out of the box as the fingers are pre-curved and the armor does not press into my hand as it does in some gloves with hard knuckle protection.
I'll keep you updated on how they hold up long term. Let the jokes begin!
