Skydog... both very nice rides... I have a couple questions...
1 - Does the GPS shade help much?
2 - Does the XM Roady interfere with the GPS signal?
Thanks,

Hi Mellow.
Answer 1- Today was the first day I used the shade and its been overcast all day so I can't really say one way or another. I think it will be most beneficial between 1100 and around 1400 when the sun is most overhead. I'll keep you posted on that as I ride more in the sun.
Answer 2 - Today while riding, I had the Roady on all the time and as GPS Betty told me I was "off course - re-calculating", I could still hear the Roady in the background and it had no interference with signal or voice that I could tell. I also had my phone set to auto answer and when I received a call from the kids, I could again still hear the Roady and talk on the phone at the same with no problems understanding the conversation. Plus, barry and I both have FRS bike-to-bike radios and we can hear each other just fine. When we talk though, we have a PTT switch and that mutes the music.

Thanks for the info... the interference I was speaking of was the Roady interferring with the GPS.. With the SkiFi I had, as soon as I turned it on, it would kill my Sat Signals to the GPS 2610 rendering the GPS useless when the Radio was on.

I've had no interference or problems like that at all. Could it be antenna location? :?:

Interesting... thanks.. I wonder if the 2620 is shielded better than the 2610. I moved the XM Skifi antenna to the top of the trunk and it didn't make any difference.. XM told me it was the actual unit interfering with the GPS and they sent me a shielded SkiFi but it didn't make any difference, maybe your 2620 also has some shielding...

Since you are using SkiFi and I'm using a Roady2, I would put my money on a defective or design flaw in the SkiFi. If you know someone nearby with a Roady2, ask to borrow it and see if that's the cause. I find it hard to believe it would be the 2610 model.

Yeah, I sold the skifi and reverted back to my mp3 for now... If I keep seeing enough examples like yours I'll give xm another try.. thanks

I really think it was the SkiFi. We have three of us here in our area with the Roady2 and GPS with no complaints at all of interference. I think you should go back to XM. That MP3 stuff is too much trouble in my mind.

The seat is a locally made seat. He took it down to the pan and started over. I like the looks and its comfortable except, it's too high. I need to take it back after riding it a little and have him shave it down about 2 inches. Other than that, best 150.00 I've spent.

2 Questions:
1. Who made the "Locally Custom made seat?"
2. Does the GPS interfere with a tank bag if you use one?

answers:
1. A small one owner shop in South Houston on Hwy 3 and Shaver called Piece by Piece of Houston.
2. A great question I never thought to check out. I need to do that before my trip. My first guess would be No, because the GPS is up there near the risers and the tank bag (depending on size) can be mounted back towards the seat more.

Thanks, I might be getting a new bike, st of course and trying to find new ways of powering up gadgets and stuff without cutting holes.

Just completed a 250 mile shakedown ride on Saturday for my upcoming Saddlesore :04biker: . The Roady2 worked great and I was able to change channels with no problems while wearing gloves. Also no interference with the 2610.
Do have concerns though with my CamelBak. Seems the Bite mouth-piece is too big to fit under the helmet. I had to lower my chin and just barely got the tube in my mouth to draw up water. I've sent an e-mail to CamelBak to ask for suggestions (maybe a 90 degree valve or something). I also tried to go through the visor but to no avail.
Anyway, the Saddlesore is scheduled for this Saturday leaving at 0400 from Houston, Lafayette, Shreveport, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston.

And..... and...... and...... ??????? WHAT ABOUT THE SARGENT SEAT?
Started hurting around the 150 mile mark. Had to keep shifting around to try to find the "right" spot. I was very glad to get off it and walk around a little. But...........it is still a big improvement over stock. What I think I'm going to do is keep it for local rides and use my big couch seat I had made locally for the long rides. Back rest came in handy though (after you told me how to adjust it, thanks Jerry).
