Does the '05 ST1300 have a rev limiter? I hit the throttle pretty hard pulling into traffic and noticed I got up to about 8500-9k rpm before shifting into 2nd. The 1150RT had a rev limiter right at the red line, where is the limiter set on the ST1300? Usually I shift way sooner, but it got me wondering.
Mine bumps the limiter at 9K. It juST goes flat...No STumble or STutter.
I throttled gradually up to the limiter one time to see where it was.
I hit it in advertently once while showing a cage my tailights up a long fwy onramp.."why won't she go? oops!"
So smooth that it fooled me.

They come in at about 9K as Dond said. It feels like the ignition is cut in a cylinder or two. I was play racing my buddy on his V65 sabre and found out how fast it gets to redline when the adrenaline is working.

I believe it is built into the ECM module. My old GL1800 was set at 200 rpm over redline. I hit it on my ST1300 but didn't look down in time to see the rpms. The bike didn't nosedive is just flatlined.

How much faster was the Sabre? I had one for many years, it seams faster than the ST. It also had 10,500 RPM rev. limiter.

To be honest, I don't know. We were in a 45 MPH zone and he backed off at about 75. I had fallen behind a few feet because of not watching my tach and losing power with the rev limiter but for the two gears we used they seemed pretty equal. I have ridden his sabre quite a bit and it sure FEELS quicker. It puts out the same HP but weighs about 100 lbs less. I'm sure we'll try it again where we can open things up a bit.
