I bought a pair of Oxtar TCS Sport boots and the level of squeaking these boots can produce is truly amazing. I tried every known lubricant and nothing worked. After a good think, I remembered that in wood working, wax is used to lubricate the jigs. Obviously paraffin is not going to cut it as it is too hard to apply. After some more thinking I remembered that the donut seal for toilets is made of a soft wax. So, after a trip to Home Depot, and $2, my boots were quiet except for one squeak: the heel on one boot still squeaked. I tried to get the wax between the sliding part and the boot, but could not get it far enough in. A squirt of WD40 kind of melted the wax and got it far enough down. I have now gone two weeks with no squeak what so ever. People still give me funny looks - but at least it is not because of my footware's noise.

Cross country skiers use Sno-Seal, which is a bees wax base waterproofer.
