I was reading the KLR boards and EagleMike posted that Pepboys has a 59.98 1500# motorcycle jack with a 30.00 rebate. Good to August 4th.
I've done their rebates in the past and they are one of the few places that requires UPC box codes. (and they still send you the rebate if you return the item.... :)....)
Cheers!

I bought one of those from Pep Boys a couple years ago, and it was useful on my '06 Harley. However, after looking at the bottom side of the ST, I'm wondering how I can use it. There doesn't appear to be any good places to position the MC-jack beneath the ST ... more bodywork than framework hanging low.

I do it all the time. Put the bike on the center stand, place the jack in front of the center stand and against it and roll the bike off the stand and it sets right on the jack where it will be balanced and you can take off both tires with it jacked up.

I don't like using the jack on the ST. I know it can be (has been) done, but I have access to a lift table...Perfect for the KLR, though. Darn near as good as laying the KLR down on two car tires:)

I bought the Big Red Pep Boys jack. It works very well, but the build quality is real crappy. Typical Chinese junk.
I wanted to use tie downs while the bike was in the air, but there is no good place for the hooks. So I decided to add some places for the tiedowns.
I welded some steel 3/16 inch (4.6mm) bars to the underside of the lifting support rails. Then I primed and painted it like new.
Now I can use tiedowns to support the bike while it's in the air. And, best of all, I don't have to loosen and re-tie the straps if I raise or lower the jack while working on the bike.
All motorcycle jacks should have tiedown lugs somewhere on the rails.
I also used Byron's ideas for the wooden support plate that goes under the motor. The 12 by 18 inch plywood board requires a 2 by 4 wood stud positioned in an exact location to go under the frame behind the motor.
The 3 and 1/4 inch tall stud is placed under the two aluminum frame flats that the center stand rest against when it is deployed.
When jacking up the bike using the board, the bike must be on the side stand.
I have included photos of the board and the welded jack lugs.

This is some good chit! Thanx! Guess I'll keep my MC jack afterall.

Jefro,
do you have any pictures of your ST up on the Pep boys lift?

I didn't get any pics of my 05 ST1300 up on the lift, but here are a few that Byron posted of his bike in the air.
I had to remove the TopBox temporarily to get the bike to balance comfortably on the lift.
Even without the tiedown straps, the bike was well balanced.
Before I bought the lift, I really stuggled to get the wheels off while the bike was in the air using my automotive style floor jack, boards and jack stands . After doing it that way once, I was convinced that the motorcyle lift was the best way to go.
