Going camping (first time by bike in 15yrs) around the BRP in Sept. On the wing all camping gear went in one side bag.. With the ST I was going to get the Large Aerostich Dry Bag duffel. They also have some straps they sell.. Are these any good or are the rokstraps better?? Anyone using either???
thanks..

As far as straps, any nylon straps will do IMO.... I personally would stay away from bungee cords... I just always visualize someone loosing an eye every time I see them streeeeetch out those things... gives me the eeebie geeebies...

Hi Mellow..
I was looking at those too, as I actually like them better.., but to get the 14X14 size (which I think I need as sleeping bag etc doesnt pack down REAL SMALL) I would need the next size up which is 30" long.. The stich bag is only 24" long.. Think I better go back and measure everything again..
as for straps.. the stich quick realease straps were the ones I was looking at and now I noticed that they also have the rokstraps there too...

I see Cabela's jacked up the price on this bag AGAIN. It's $59.99 now. Still a good back for the money but the original price was truly a bargain.
I use a 15x15 bungee net to hold my bag in place. It works very well.
As for putting out an eye with a bungee cord, just wear your helmet with faceshield down while strapping things, lol. And quit running around with those scissors!!!!

Hark! The one eyed guy agrees!
I am pretty darn careful around bungee cords. Not saying I don't ever use them, but carefully, and with glasses on!
I use the MC "cargo net" that I buy (about $6.00) at Wally's. Made by Bell, gives you 3 hooks per side, and will stretch out a looooong way. I have 2 or 3 around so I can find them as needed.

The ROKstraps are great!! I used to use bungees and other types of straps until I discovered the ROKstraps. Now I don't use anything else. Tighten them down tight against the built in elastic part and they don't come loose, rain or shine, bumpy roads or smooth. At least mine never have.
The attach quickly and perfectly to the ST1300 and I've found I can put my duffel on either cross-wise or length-wise with them easily. (By the way, length-wise makes the bike more streamlined.)
Last summer when I low-sided and totalled my first '06 ST1300 on a trip I had my duffel ROKstrapped on the back of the bike and it never moved during the crash and was still securely attached when we got the bike back upright.
Another by the way--get a compression bag for your sleeping bag from REI--it will compress your sleeping bag much better than anything else will. (personal experience from several high-altitude mountaineering trips).

That sounds good... I did order the Rokstraps with the Large Stich bag, and hopefully they will be here this week!
We use those bags too (Cabelas) The smallest size is still just a tad big IMO. When put on the rear seat on the ST, it reaches too far out on both sides, making it somewhat difficult to get into your saddlebags, or at least get the key in to open it up. Still like them though.
