JuST before my ride out last Sunday, about to pull onto a roundabout en route to Ipswich (UK), I twisted the throttle open and .... nothing happened apart from stalling the engine in 1st gear when I let the clutch out. How embarassing, especially with cagies behind me expecting me to leave them standing.
Pedalled over to hard shoulder. Started engine fine, tick over fine. Twisted throttle again - still nothing. 'Damn' I thought - broken throttle cable. Just then I noticed the wire from the heated grip was at an unusual angle. What had happened was that the cr*p glue that the dealer had used when installing the heated grips had melted, and the rubber grip was rotating freely around the inner plastic throttle tube.
I squeezed the grip real hard to make contact and I had throttle control again. I made it as far as the next garage before my right arm siezed with cramp, bought some "brush on" cyano glue, cleaned the remnants of the cr*p stuff off, and fixed the problem in 5 minutes.
:coolit:
Just thought I'd mention this so you can check yours. Better safe than sorry - it could have been far worse had I been in a queue of fast moving traffic at the time.
Regards,
Rob
