For those who may not know about this thread, see the "Need Prayers!!!" thread.

They have put Carol in a "step-down" room in intensive care. She is off the ventilator and able to talk now. The nurses have had her up about 5 or 6 times to take short walks of 30 to 40 feet. Each day brings improvements... God is good!

She does not remember anything about the impact itself, other than the noise when she hit the dog. She said it charged after her from a crouched down position from the left side of the road. As I've previously stated, she didn't even have time to hit the brakes. She said she remembered trying to swerve to avoid it.

The next thing she remembers is trying to sit up. She got dizzy and was hurting, so she just laid back down. She could not tell me what she hit on the bike (if anything) that may have caused all her internal injuries.

I'll keep you posted and as always, thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. I can't wait for her to see all the responses we have received from all over the world. You guys and gals are great!

That's great news. You'll look back on this someday and remember you were blessed. I can't imagine having my wife in ICU, I must say you're taking it like a champ.

Great to hear she is in a step down unit. Great to hear that she doesn't remember much of anything, no reason to have those details burden her recovery.

She is still in our prayers. There will be a few more days before she is out on her own 2 feet.

Glad to hear it!

I had a simular situation happen this last sunday...
only it was 4 dogs!
wayyyy out in farmland... (I was going through a test route for WiSTOC)
I come up this back road and four dogs sitting there staring me down, with the owner accross the street in her veggie garden....these were farm dogs and all looked a bit rough....one looked like he was very grungy, hungry and MEAN!
Another was a border collie and the other 2 I'm not sure...(the other 2 ran accross the street and I just concentrated on the 2 that were concentrating on me)
but I slowed...almost to stop....the border collie ran back up the road about block away, and got in a ducking down kinda position, and sat by the side of the road and was just fixated on me....The MEAN looking dog just walked slowley toward me with head down a little...
I thought for sure he was gonna charge at me....I just kept rolling about 5mph...when got about 10 feet to him, I just gunned and got out there as fast as I could....
Now I was comming up on the border collie, and he's just sitting there in a crouched position....I thought he was going to charge me now...but I just had it gunned it and just kept my eyes on the road and ignored the dog....
I was thinking about your story at the time...and just said to myself
"if he darts at me,I'm just gonna hang on and hopefuly just take him out"...

Luckily no dogs lunged at me,and nobody went to heven that day!:)
But it DID scare the crap out of me and I Immediatly thought of your unfortunate SO :(
Hang in there Elmo, We're all praynig for Carol's full recovery!
