I found the 'running lights' (#194 bulbs) in my ST1300 to be a wedge-based 21 watt bulbs (not 5 watts as mentioned on the MSN board). I am interested in replacing them with the blue LEDs so I visited www.superbrightleds.com to get more info and purchase. I found the following warning:

Do not use LED bulbs in the same housing with head lamps, the heat will cause them to fail quickly.
As these running lights are housed inside the headlight shell, can anyone provide feedback on the success and longevity or otherwise of their LED replacements?

Also, which LED bulbs did you use? The SuperBright web site gives a number of possibilities:
1. Single Wedge Base LED Bulbs
2. 4 or 6 Wedge Base Bulbs? (these are apparently brighter than 1. but projects more of a beam)
3. WLED-x6 LED Wedge Base Bulbs?
4. T13-x6 LED Wedge Base?

The list at http://www.superbrightleds.com/1157.htm goes on. Any advice appreciated.

John

John, I would advise against the superbrights, both dond and myself had these and one or more of the leds were failing (blinking).

I was at a local auto parts store and in the section where guys get cute little lights and neon stuff for the interior of their civics I found a package of jamstrait LEDs.

I put these on in november and they are still going strong.

Thanks for the feedback. So Mellow: you replaced the 194's with which 3157 model?

All I have to do now is find a supplier who will supply on-line AND ship to Australia (so far no luck), or find one locally (buckleys). Oh well.

Nope, sorry, wrong link

there's a link for the 194 bulbs here:

I am not using the wide-angle version because that wasn't in stock at the autoparts store however, if I were to do it again that's the one I'd get. The wide angle should help take advantage of the reflector built into that area and appear brighter as well.

What does it take to ship something to Austrailia? I don't mind finding a pair here and sending them to you if it's not too costly for you.
