If you are in the UK and you want to check whether there are recalls affecting your Honda motorcycle, please see Honda UK's web site as follows:
http://www.honda.co.uk/owner/
To do an online check you will need your VIN (shown on the logbook), plate number and address. If you register your details with Honda, they will email you any future recall notices affecting your motorcycle.
Honda UK also publish a "Motorcycle" product phone number for customer relations in the UK which is 01753 590510
I have not had a recall for the last year, and yet the online check above states that all recall work on my ST1300 has been done. I then 'phoned UK Honda on the number above. They told me that the Honda "official" dealer who sold me the motorcycle had not registered me to receive recall notices. This was all the more surprising because two hours previously to my call I had completed an on-line registration myself.
I then asked whether Honda UK were aware of the three most recent American Honda safety recalls affecting the ST1300. He said that Honda UK had received no such recall notices from the factory. He also said that the USA market is much bigger than the UK market, so you guys will always get the recalls first.
The implication I read from this is that Honda UK do not bother recalling faulty UK motorcycles in a timely manner.
I love mysteries
Regards,
Rob
