Summary:
ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE MAIN WIRE HARNESS HAS A GROUND DISTRIBUTION CONNECTOR THAT IS INCORRECTLY ASSEMBLED. SOME ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS MAY OVERHEAT AND SHORT, INCLUDING THE FUEL PUMP.

Consequence:
IF THE FUEL PUMP STOPS WORKING, THE ENGINE WILL STALL WITHOUT WARNING, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH.

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE GROUND DISTRIBUTION CONNECTOR FOR OVERHEATING DAMAGE. IF ANY DAMAGE IS FOUND, THE WIRE HARNESS WILL BE REPLACED. IF NO DAMAGE IS FOUND, THE CONNECTORS WILL BE ASSEMBLED PROPERLY. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 13, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 866-784-1870.

This is showing up on Transport Canada's site claiming that 1109 ABS and non-ABS 03/04 St 1300's are being recalled. I contacted the dealership that sold the bike, they have no recall notice on my bike a late 04 model. I'm going to pursue this and will keep you posted. I'm unsure whether Honda is sluggish or if there was a correction on the assembly line that saw a correction. Little disconcerting that our government would know before Honda Canada if that's how it is..

I'm assuming this is the same recall that was posted before but from NHTSA's site.

I have yet to actually locate this ground connector and I have the airbox off the bike plus all the tupperware removed. I saw a connector that looks like it up in the fairing but I'm pretty sure that's not it. I know it's located under the air box and the P-Whattie valve but I don't see it.

I have a post on this else where, but just a note to Canadian ST 1300 owners, 03-04 ABS and non-Abs. Honda will be issuing a recall for the faulty harness/connector on Feb. 11th. It will be in the mail to owners and memo to dealers. It is affecting 1109 bikes. Dealer didn't know about it, but I found out with one phone call to Honda, funny the dealer couldn't make that call.. Good for Honda for making it right...
