I wanted to wait to see when WeSTOC 2008 would take place so I could pick a date that would not conflict.

I am thinking May or August 2008 for Crestoc this year.

Any preferences?

Thanks,

<D>

Dan: I am hoping to attend both CreSToc and WeSToc in June. Crestline is so close and My leg has healed (I am riding regularly again). Please keep me in the loop.

Will do! It should be a good time (either in May or August) as the weather should be prime!

Thanks!

Voted for May as being a HVAC guy I can't get away for extended periods in the middle of the summer.

So far, it's looking like May is the month for CreSTOC.... :)

Hi Dan,

I'm gonna make it this year. I thought about CreSToc as we rode by the exit off of the 30 this morning, coming home from WeSToc.

Bob,

I'd love to hang with you guys! There is some nice riding and it should be a good time again this year.

If we have it in May this year, It'll probably be closer to the end of the month as the weather gets dramatically better up there as we close into June.

I planned on waiting this year until WeSTOC 2008 was announced and it looks like Adam says it will be later in June, which makes it good. :)

It's interesting.... there is this camp ground / event site that someone posted last year that can be rented for about $1600 a day.... if we get enough people, early enough, this may be a really cool thing....we'd be self contained.... :)

I'll see if I can find the old link....

Here it is.... this info was posted by Raven... this looks like a great idea if we can get enough people this year to split the cost...:

Hey - you can rent this whole place (60 cabins) for $1600 a night!

http://www.laparks.org/dos/camps/seely.htm

Even split among only 20 people that's $80 a night (cheaper than the local hotels). If you get as many as we ended up with at DesertSTOC (somewhere around 40 or so) it's only $40 per night. . . .

Bet you could get 160 folks to show at only $10 a night!

Given my druthers, I'd druther go in May. Next year, I will, I will make it. With this much notice, how could I (and Susan) NOT make it. Once your dates are set, we'll book a room and just put it on the calendar. Once it's on the calendar, it's a done deal.
I like the Camp Seely option. We'd have to get a LA resident to make the reservation exactly 8 months in advance which would be around the end of October. Then the question becomes, do we do a Memorial Day weekend or leave that to others, and do the weekend before or after. Also, we'll have to wait and see the WeSTOC dates. I'd be willing to put up $80 a night and hope for a reduction as more sign up. This could turn into an alternative for people who can't make it to WeSTOC for one reason or another. Let me know if I can be of any help.

I'm in for May.

Yeah....we had it last year in early May, but I think we need to shoot for later in May (if the majority agrees with May).

I think I need to let the ride (no Pun) for a week or two and let people continue to vote on it.

Cheers!

Any other voters?

It is looking like Middle / late May at this point.

I'll make sure to avoid the holiday up there because the roads get packed fast.

The third week-end in May is an annual ride up in the old gold country for me. Been doing for the last 8 years. So if you have it on that week-end, I won't be able to make it. :biker:

Darn. The 17th - 19th looks like the perfect weekend.

I guess we could go for May 30th-June 1st..... Does this pose a problem for anyone? (Adamk mentioned that WeSTOC 2008 would be sometime in "late" June...so is this pushing it for some of you?)

I'll also have to check with Megumi and Minami to see what their schedules look like. I spoke to them last night and Megumi (my girlfriend) imediately said she would volunteer to do the BBQ dinner and assume the hostess roll as she did last year. Because she and Minami (11YO Daughter) organized and prepped all the food before the BBQ, I was able to participate in the rides for all 3 days.

They are pretty amazing. :)

So I have another question for you all:

If we don't get the attendance required to justify renting that camp site (which really doesn't see that hard to hit, if you use Raven's numbers), would most of you still be willing to pay a small fee (maybe $10-20? ea?) to cover the BBQ for the main evening?

Whatever is left over, we could donate to a ST-owners.com or a charity or something....

Thoughts?

I don't understand the "minimum" number of campers. @$1600/night, if I pay the price why I can't I stay there by myself? If 64 of us show up ($25/night) an easily achievable number, we could use what we need a leave the rest empty. I like the sound of that for a three day weekend.

May sounds good to me if the snow is all gone by then. Put down as a "yes."

Yeah... not sure on that 60 minimum either... I'll see if I can't looking into that and see what is up. :)

Snow: Snow should be long gone by May. Especially if we set it for the last weekend in May. It will be summer weather and we should get a nice 45 minute sunset from some of the mountain tops. :)

Unless someone makes a significant point for not making CreSTOC 2008 May 30- June 1st in the next week, I'll get it up on the calendar and start counting attendance.

I am really looking forward to this again. It was such a good time last year.

I really hope Fred (and Shari) can make it by then. He is having a steady, but slow recovery. Guy (litterally) now has Balls of Titanium.

Would also be great if you can make it too George....so I can get you guys loST again... hehe. :(

Byron: Are you an "L.A. Resident"?

We might need an LA Resident to reserve this if it is over 8 months in advance....

Dan, just a tip on scheduling: pick the date that's best for _you._ If others can't accommodate your schedule, it's their choice. Someone else will thank you. Lincoln said it best: "****'em if they can't take a joke." <yeah, he really did.> :D

Either will work for me at this point. Just want to make sure there is enough gap for WESTOC for people that want to make this one....

I always over think things like this....

Thanks for the advice. ;)

The wife and I will be there whatever weekend is picked. We also vote for the camp area. I'm sure we could get 60 with this much notice.

Alright...so it is looking like the last weekend in May at this point.

I am going to work on the schedule over the next couple weeks. and get a post up with the info.

I'd like to ask for a volunteer to call Camp Seely and see what the restrictions and details are for reserving it as well as any other details we might need to know about to host CreSTOC there.

Cheers,

This year, we are going to pass on the Camp Seely thing again. Just let people get their own lodging.

It worked pretty well last year so it should work again this year. :)
