Well I guess it had to happen eventually. Three of us were leaving a truck stop/service station in southern Virginia today. I was the last one in the group.
The road leading from the station to the access road was a slight downhill that dropped off to the right. I was only going about 5 mph when I heard a loud truck rev it’s engine off to the left and sort of behind me. I had already checked for traffic there but the truck sounded so close. I grabbed that brakes because I thought that I was pulling out in front of a truck.
Well, the ST stopped just fine. But the forward momentum continued as I went over on the right, sort of in slow motion.
The only damage is to the right engine guard cover and slight abrasion to the underside of the right saddlebag.
Fortunately for me my riding buddies looked around for me at the traffic light and came on back once they saw what had happened.
I wasn’t even embraced!! Just glad it wasn’t any worse!

I would rather have dropped my ST than to possibly pull out in front of a truck. Better safe than sorry.

It's pretty amazing how such a big, heavy bike can go down and yet do such little damage. Glad you weren't hurt.

Try that little trick on a BMW RT and see the $$$ to bring it back to orginal. the wings may look a little odd, but they do a bang up (sorry for the pun) job!

The TOBs may be the reason I stay with Honda , they care enough to put them on the bike , makes me care enough to stay with Honda .
If the C14 had them , I'd get one in seconds flat
Glad you are ok

Glad you are safe and sound.
How many other people can say "I dropped my bike and its only going to cost 16$ to fix it."
Awesome.

I dropped mine (again:oops: ) too. I had it parked on the back door ramp after washing it. I'm not sure what I did, but next thing I know, I was trying to slowly laying it down. I was afraid that the slope would roll it over past the TOW, but luckily it stopped as usual and damage was only to the underside. Great feature. I won't mention how many lighters I would have collected.

I just hate when that happens.
Really is a good thing when it works out, though, huh? What a great feature!

something similar happened to me in a parking lot in WVA on my 1100. I was not as lucky. Broken right mirror, and badly scuffed right bag. 500$$ in damage.
has any one done a poll?
1. only once
2. more than once
4. never, or I lie or will take the 5th
The poll was conclusive.
1) Some have dropped it; some are waiting impatiently for their 1st drop.
2) Some have dropped it on one side picked it up and dropped it on the other side.
4) All will undoubtedly drop it again unless they sell it 1st.

Steve,
Now that the first one is officially behind you, you can ride without the burdon of when it will happen. :D
Love them wings!

Thats how I dropped mine on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Tried to turn around on one of those turnoffs, slight slope to the left, turned to the left, and couldnt hold it up. Slight scuff on bottom of tip over wing. Great bike:-)

A little sand paper and a black magic marker will do miracles. Not quite as good as new but servicable.

I had my first driveway tip over two days ago. My passaeger lost her balance while I was backing out of the driveway and over we went. Only scraped up the engine guard cover. Lucky.

I think the TOWs are mounted a little higher on the 1300 than they were on the 1100. Both of the times I dropped my 11, the bike rotated over the TOW and smashed the mirror. I've now dropped my 13 twice and even with a full top box and camping gear on the back (higher than normal Cg), it stopped once the wing hit, preventing any other damage.
In addition, dragging the wings whilst cornering on the 1100 wasn't that hard to do, but I've yet to touch down the 13's wings.
