Well, with the miserable weather around here, I'm forced to farkle this weekend instead of ride. I installed the 3M Scotch Bright black reflective material to the rear of STat's bags, an NEP throttle lock and a nifty 12V receptacle that I found at West Marine. The receptacle is made by Marinco, is compatible with standard cigarette lighter plugs but when combined with their Marinco plugs, can provide a locking, water tight seal like the BMW/powerlet style ones. Though the Powerlet ones seem to be the emerging standard, I still don't own anything with a Powerlet style plug (haven't felt a need for electric garments either) so I was pleased to find this unit. Seems like a pretty high quality piece. I paid $15 for it so they aren't that cheap. Here's the website for Marinco and a link to my webshots album showing it installed on the right faring pocket:

Also note the Hondaline knee pads and tank pad. I like the knee pads, kinda neutral on the tank pad though.

Sweet, you're well on your way.. :biker:
It's good to hear from someone living in the city I was born in. We moved to TX as soon as I was born and the only time I've been back was last year during WeSTOC.
Jeff, I hope you have better luck with the NEP than I.
It departed at about 75 mph one night on SR118. I went to flick it on and......
My VC is STill with me after many miles.
I did get a ride in this a.m.!

I can't imagine this one flyling off. The little tab that would normally go between the throttle cables at the bottom of the throttle/switch housing wouldn't fit between the forward exiting cables on the 1300. I ended up drilling a hole (yes I took it apart and looked first - nothing there) and using a tiny screw to hold the tab to the bottom of the switch housing. As such, it's pretty securely attached. This is the same method I used to attach this same NEP lock to my 2003 WeSTOC press bike. It held then for the whole 5K trip.

"Forced to Farkle." Isn't that the title to a country & western song?

Nothing worst then having a nice brand new bike and then getting to enjoy adding all the nice things to it. I think mine is about done, well for now. Still waiting for my delivery from Electrical connection so I can add my 12 volt outlet some where around the handle bars for the gps.
Enjoy your new bike.

The fun part of farkling is that not only are you adding things that are, for the most part, functional, but you wind up with your bike being just the way you want it--your own customization.

FORCED TO FARKLE? Jeff I think its more of a: COMPELLED TO FARKLE thing. After the 1100 I think its in the blood. You don't really have a choice.

While the snow fell during the eve, I broke down and had to farkle too...waiting for the snow to go.
Got on the backrest on for SWMBO (pirate's lair);

Very nicely done item!
Mounted a set of fuses and wires , one set to the tail, one to the front...using Anderson powerpole connectors for the intercom or charger... front wire for a Garmin 2610 gps.
Was going to do a Heli bar adapter, but will wait till after the ground cap recall to make it easier to lift the tank.
Had to stop, ran out of farkle money for now.

Jeff
I have the same Marinco 12 Volt jack on my bike. Works great and seems like it should last.
