Does the instument panel have to come off?

Just received my quartet harness today and have ordered the matching Hitach connectors. Purusing through the very brief instructions that came with the harness seems to indicate that the entire meter panel must be removed! Is this really necessary? Yikes!

You can get to the harness with just the left side fairing off... The meter panel stays on. It's just above and forward of the cylinder heads.

If you do have to remove the meter panel, don't worry, it's pretty straight forward. I found out when I had to replace my digital display because some of the digits failed.
You can remove the meter panel in about 20 minutes.
