Most of you know I totalled my Wing July 6. I have been (im)patiently waiting for GEICO to make it a fact and send me my check. Today in the PM mail I received said check. I had already committed to a Chapter member to buy his '02 when he rolled up to last meeting with his '08. He was of course antsy to get rid of his used one and I of course was just as antsy to get his used one. I won't post any pictures of it as a black GL 1800 is much the same no matter what year. It does have ABS, more chrome, less miles and has been taken better care of than my '06. And bestest of all it has a brand new Zumo 550 attatched to the left handle bar. Now I have to relearn GPS all over. It looks to be pretty much the same as the 2720 as far as programing a route if you know the address, but I'm going to need help transferring routes from this site to the 550. In particular the ones for NNESToc as it is the next event I'm carrying the banner to. My avatar now is correct again and I guess I have to update my signature.

Thats good news Mac and we will see you in NH in a week or so. All the routes for NNESToc are posted in the Group Rider website as .gpx files which can be easily exported to your device.

Easily for someone who knows what they're doing!!!! I found the routes and the gpx files, but don't know squat about "easily exporting them" anywhere!!!!

Congrats Mac, the family is whole again.
Now you will ride a lot less. You will just stand there in the garage, trying to decide "Yeah, the Wing. Oh no, today the ST..... or perhaps the Wing.... no, wait, wait... ehmmmm....."

The decision is easy Dennis, if she goes, the Wing gets the nod, if she doesn't go, the ST gets the nod.

Mac,

Glad to hear you're back wingin' it.

You might want to sign on here, http://www.zumoforums.com/

These folks are a great help with the Zumo.

You'll probably need to update your mapsource and there may be an update available for your Zumo firmware.

The easiest way, I've found, to upload .gpx files is to import them into mapsource and then let mapsource upload them into the Zumo.

Congrats on the new Wing Mac .
I do like that avatar you have and I have been lookin' at (dare I say it) a Wing myself. But seems the only ones I'm finding are silver and I'm not sure how well that will look next to the fast Black ST.

In truth it seems that I'm having a hard time fiinding a Wing at that they're not asking $2500 over blue book. guess I'll keep lookin'.

Grats on the Wing, Mac. I'd love to have one in my garage too but the bank account says no, at least yet. ST and Wing make a great pair.

I missed this thread!

Glad to hear you're 2up again Mac.

How is Gail healing? I remember reading that she wanted replacement gear; so, I figure as soon as she is healed you'll be on the road 2up again...

Congrats!

I am leaving NNESToc early, and believe me this is really a BIG sacrifice because the riding up here is GOOD. I plan to get home tomorrow evening and get on the Wing Sunday and go get the SO on the pillion and ride as long as she can stand it. I am trying to get her to CTSToc wih me. She has new gear but it is going to take a lot to get her to CT. I'll keep ya'll posted.

After I pm'ed you I found this thread. Didn't know of your misfortune. There are so many posts that if you miss a day you miss alot. Sorry to here about the Wing but glad to hear you found it's replacement. What I'm getting out of this thread is the SO was with you, hope she's ok.

I'll be there with the banner. The test ride yesterday with the SO went very well and she didn't bat an eye because of the rain, just suited up and said let's go. And we did.
