Took an extended ride today....reached into my rt side compartment...whew!!!! Hot as Hades!!

I only have a couple of Master locks in there....but aren't these compartments worthless??? No way I would ever put a cell phone or camera in there.

Does anyone here carry anything in those pockets?? Let's hear it.

Thanks,

I'm thinking about using as a place to mount a small fuse block.

Anyone think that's a bad idea?

Carry change for the tolls around Chicago in the right compartment. I have gloves on but the toll people say the change is hot.

Warm, yes but a great place to store tools and quick access essentials that would fill all the pockets, plus, in my Killi jacket. Without them I guess I would have to get a larger, uglier tankbag.

Starcom 1 in left side, two outlets and hidden garage door opener in right side.

Right pocket: Windshield cover, ear plugs, plastic lid with string attached for soft parking, wind strap for sun/dust cover. Left pocket: Wndshield and glasses cleaner, paper towels and kleenex. I think the cubbies are a great feature. But I really think Honda should have refrigerated them so I could keep a cold drink on hand. What were they thinking? :)

Greets,

I keep stuff in the glove boxes.

Left Fairing Pocket: Microcloth, rags, shield/visor cleaners
Right Fairing Pocket: Garage Door Opener, Retractable Cable Lock for jacket, Sunglasses, misc small stuff.

When I bought the universal Mag-Knight tank protector at the dealer, the instructions said hold under a hair dryer for a full minute before applying. I popped it in my glove box & when I got home applied it on the tank no problems :D

ST11 ... no heat problems ... :-) he he :-)

Still, I use mine for toolkit, papers, maglite, etc so heat doesn't matter. Now the beef jerky/road kill and burrito ideas I had not thought of ... hmmm ;)

I wuz thinking of trying to cook a small meatloaf. Wrap in foil and about 400 miles @ 75 mph?

Yum.

Ok...so consensus is that in the left pocket, meatloaf 75mph for 400 miles... right pocket, BirdsEye mixed vegtables 75 mph for 100 miles...wait for simmer, then serve. :eat2:

I dunno. I managed to liquify a tube of chap-stick in the left pocket on my 1100 once.

anyone ever install a vent to move air through the pockets?? Someone has to make a small version of a waterproof boat vent that could be
adapted?? A scoop type vent that when turned forward would duct air
into the pocket, when rotated 180 degrees would shut the vent and
be water resistant/proof???

Bryan,

I found that wrapping the pocket with some high-temp fiberglass insulation held on with aluminum tape eliminates the heat. I did this on mine in order to keep my Sony mp3 CD player and amp in the pocket. Works great.

If you would like to try this, I will send you some insulation. When I finally found the right insulation I bought way more than I needed. It's not expensive, just hard to find.

I ran my quartet harness into the left side pocket. That gives me easy access to all those connections. I also carry a small air compressor and a couple cables in there. The right side pocket is where I carry my side stand plate, garage door opener and assorted little parts (ex. spare peg scrapers as they keep getting ground down).

I do like the idea of warming up lunch in there. I have a pan bolted to the intake manifold on my ski boat for that exact reason. It works well.
