Hi guys.

Well just picked up my 04 ST today and well I could not be happier. Ok well I could be, but thats for another website.

Anyway, I have been over quite a few of the posts and thought I would just ask to be sure. I am a rather tall guy at 6 foot 3 and with even the 120KM's I put on the bike today, my shoulders and legs were a little sore. Now I am not used to the bike, but still I think I need to get a set of handle bar risers at the very least.

In looking on the site I was going to go with Heli, but then noticed that motorcyclelarry.com sells risers as well as the peg lowers I was looking at. Add to that I am going to be adding a Garmin 2610 and the motorcyclelarry.com seems like a beter option as it comes (I think), with a free 1" ball mount that I assume I could mount the GPS to.

So I guess my question is:

Is one set of risers better than the other? So Heli vs. motorcyclelarry.com?

I think the lowers are a given and I will get those (some people have said they love them, others have said they already scrap the pegs and why lower them?). Not sure about that but...

Any advice would be great. This site has been great for information. Although I must admit, it's not been great for my bank account.

Dave...

P.S. Oh... Blue rules!

The risers are almost identical. I bought Larry's and am very happy with them. For the 2610 mount you can mount a 1" ball on the riser plate or use the one you have right now.

CycleGadgets is a good place to get the Rammount stuff. Very nice people and easy to deal with. I just ordered some rammount things this past week from them. Now Rammount makes a mount for the 2610 but so does Garmin. It's a personal choice. Depending on the mount you choose you will need to get a couple things. One is an arm to attach to the ball you have and then you'll need the ball mount that will attach to the back of the mount you choose.

Here's the page for the Rammount mount for the 2610:
http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/RAM/ram.asp?prod=RAM-SP26

They might have the Garmin MC mount also for the 2610 but you may need to call them.

The RAM-STD is the piece you need to get to mount to the back for the Garmin MC mount. If you get the Rammount cradle at Cyclegadgets and use the link I provided above they put a little package together that includes the cradle and the mount for it. They only thing you would need to pick from their pulldowns is the length of armature you need.

Here's some good pics of the Garmin MC mount (it's the one I prefer):

Hope that helps.

Where do you guys get the money for all this stuff. I'm trying to lose some weight but this is a wallet crash diet that I am trying to avoid.
I really would like a sargent saddle, and I know I'm going to need a radar detector now. So much for the simple Zen-like experience of riding. Farkle on!!! :banghead: :D

Yea. I was wondering the same thing. May be I need to move to the USA and join in on that land of the plenty thing. :)

Thanks for the advice on mounting the GPS.

What I think your saying is that even with the riser that comes with a 1" ball, I will need a rod that goes from the ball to the mounting bracket (Garmin or otherwise), and another ball on the bracket side. You mention length of rod. Do you have recomendation? I assume it really only needs to be a few inches off the riser and just enough to clear the bars?

I have a guy local here (www.gpscentral.ca), who seems to have a rather large selection of all the stuff I should need. Plus his prices seem to be very competitive. Being local is nice as I can go down and see the mounts and gps before I buy it. That being said, from looking at cyclegadgets.com, they are someone to keep in mind for the future.

Going forward, I think I will put an order in with Larry for the handlebar risers and the peg lowers. Now I wonder about the fork brace?
