View Full Version : NNESTOC IV '08 Planning Poll
Folks... to all who have been here, or are thinking of coming next year, I want to get some feedback about timing.
For those who were here, do you agree that it's an fairly ideal week to hold the event? The weather is usually a bit or more cooler than what we experienced, and the gringo traffic is about as low as it gets. Second, since it's the week after labor day, how many folks would be interested, and might take advantage of stretching it out another day?
This year we started on Thursday, and quite a few folks rolled in Wednesday night. Next year, several of us have discussed extending another day, since it's a short work week anyway, and riding in on Tuesday, missing the holiday traffic and extending the event by another day.
The way I see making best use of the days:
Weekdays, especially Wed-Thur will be good days for folks who wish to do some longer, more spirited rides in small groups... as well as shorter or more relaxed rides.
Friday and Saturday will primarily be shorter <250 mile rides with slightly larger groups, more moderate pace, and more social and scenic opportunities throughout the rides.
So, should we extend the event and make the dates Sept. 3-7?
Do we keep the same time frame, week after Labor Day?

I added an option to just see the results since whatever you decide is fine with me.. I actually plan to make all STOC events.. but only a few work out.

Hi Greg, This year was awesome!!! I will definitly be coming at least the four days next year. 5 days would give you the ability to plan some family time as well. Kim mention having a short all girl ride one day. Anyway We can't wait til next year, and I will be riding with your group at least one day. Aslo I will be glad to help any way I can. Bob

Hey man buzzing past here quick, I wanted to hit "one more day mo' betta", but punched in "5 days, I can't imagine spending 5 days with you crazy Yankees" instead. While I may have punched in a true answer, I still say one more day is cool (even if I didn't vote that way)! :D
Gotta replace those paint caps again.

Hey, you crazy Yankee... You can edit your vote, and also provide an opinion on the dates (same week or not?).
Gotta go call the paint cap police...

Folks, at top of poll it says:
Please answer 2, one about 'when', and one about 'for how long'
This poll allows multiples... take 'em while you can get 'em :clap2:

Greg, it was a great event this year so it would be hard to make it any better. :bow1: :bow1: :bow1: Same dates, same place and similar routes would suit us just fine. The only glitch was the old lady complaining about the roudy caveman TV.:cf1: :cf1:

Maybe we should invite the old lady for a beer and some caveman TV?
I like the date. Next year I'm going west to the smoother asphalt of Vermont.
Go more than 4 days if you want, though it's tough for me to be gone any longer once school starts again.

I did not make it this year. New England Riders held its annual overnight the same weekend at the Riverview in Bethel, ME. My wife and I were there over the weekend. I had hoped to get over to NNESTOC on Thursday, but it didn't work out. If it was extended another day I could hit both events. I am new to riding an ST, and I hope to ride more with you guys. I enjoyed meeting some of you the week before at Curtis Barbecue.
I was looking for ya man... hope you didn't let OSJ talk you out of it just cause he thinks I have bad taste in eateries ;). Drag his sorry :butt1: up with you next year :)

Brenda and I had a blast this year. Yeah, it was hot, but the riding was great!
I took Friday off and she worked till noon, so we didn't get in till around 5-ish. Next year, I'll again take Friday off and ride up on Thursday. If she takes the day off, we'll both be there for the Friday ride. If not, she'll be there for the Saturday ride. We used a boatload of vacation this year going to Hawaiii for our 30'th anniversary. Next year should be better, vacation-wise for her.
I'm not optimistic about the caveman TV, though. We were two for two on the locals calling the PO-PO.

OK, I voted. Yes the same weekend. Be like me and retire, etc.
Joe I tried to make all of the STOC events this year, but I missed a couple. Unfortunately there were several occasions where 2 were scheduled on the same weekend and I couldn't be both places at the same time. NNESToc will be a priority next year and I reccomend if you/anyone can only do one or two events, put this one on the must do list!!!
Bologna! Let's just retire and try to keep up with Mac!
Ding Ding! And we have a winner... at least about the retirement part. Don't know if I could keep up with Mac or not. :)
