I had the left mirror cover off and popped the bulb harness out of the turn signal housing. When I reinstalled the bulb harness, I felt something snap and now the bulb holder turns in circles. I have a tendency to over-torque everything... What did I break? Is it something on the brown bulb holder or more likely something in the receptacle on the turn signal housing?

For now, I just re-assembled everything: bulb harness in housing, a slight turn to hold the harness in tight, and two dabs of hot glue to prevent it from backing out.

Any ingenious repair solutions besides ordering new parts? ..and I know -- don't over-torque...

I'm guessing you broke a detent in the housing. The socket materials are made of a PEI material that is much stronger than the ABS housing / reflector. If that is the case, you may be able to melt a new detent in the housing socket with something small and hot - like a soldering iron.
Caution !!! This operation is best left to professionals.

I heard something snap and later rattle inside the lens housing. When I went to look for it, it disappeared. Probably something very tiny. I didn't notice anything on the brown bulb socket that would serve to snap into a detent. At this point, I'm just going to order a replacement and be done with it.

I'm leaving on a 2000 or so mile trip on Sunday and didn't want any problems. The hot glue should hold...

Thanks,

Tony
